What rear brake lines are you guys using with the XJ spring stretch on a YJ? Simple enough? :D

A longer one

No seriously, extended stainless steel and rework the bracket on the frame and you should be golden.

Oh Ok. So just one for a Yj with a lift kit? Plus stretching out the hard line? Sounds easy enough. I was hoping someone would say like a 19xx from a 3/4 ton gm xxxx will fit. Oh well back to work i guess.

Oh ya I'm actually going sua too. so that will be shorter than an soa xj stretch as far as the lines are concerned.

I've got the same swap in the works. XJ stretch sua. Your still gonna need a pretty long brake line. those springs stretch like crazy. Another kid on here gave me some pics of his yj done the same way, heres a pic:

HaHa that won't work for brakes! Mayby as a limiting strap though... I havebeen scronging parts stores to find one on the cheap. I just got home with one i thought was golden, but turned out one side off the rear was tapped for 1/4 not the yj's 3/16.

I know that's not what your trying to do... just a good pic on the fact that your gonna need to extend those brake lines... tell me what you find, i'm gonna have to do it to.

Anyone know what length the xj lines are? If they are longer than the yj lines that would be a start or for that matter zj, mj, bj, or jk lines too? I work 8 hrs from home and i'm only home 1 week out of the month so i try to find shelf parts and not order stuff (ie- custom length brake lines) Plus i don't want to pay 50 dollars for it. 50$ would go far towards the wheels i need.:)

I just noticed that guys shackles are a mile long! LOL!

It's weird that you refer to them as "just brakes". When the "Just brakes" save your life everyday. They are the Single most important system on your Jeep.

Now having said that You have to know the different names for the components in a hydraulic system. Lines are made from metal. Hoses are made from Rubber and or other flexable materials.

DOT 3 brake fluid well this nasty shit makes rubber swell up, removes paint lighnting fast, and since is has a specific gravity close to water it attracts water like mad.

Now given the choice between a 200 HP improvement and a really killer brake system. I'd take the brake system. You need brakes on the trail and are just as important as they are in the city. And you may want to rethink that E-brake thing too.

You can cause an accident with a family on the trail as well as in the city.

You would be cheaper buying a set of braided Stainless steel lines 2 for the front and only one for the rear. and they last for a very long time. Took me 6 years to go from Stock to 4.5 inches of lift and 35's But everything is new and the best I could afford for what I wanted to do.

I am not trying to insult or slam you. I am trying to momentarily get you to relieze brakes are very important when you are working on or upgrading them.

So that when you are finished you can go back to forgetting about them, because heading for a redlight is not the time to find out YOUR brakes don't work. Do them right and not half assed as it sounds like you want to.

YA wow... I never said I was looking for something permanent... I'm trying to move imidiatly and I need to be able to move this thing asap. I realize this is not the A+ way to do it but I only have a few days before i need to go back to work for 2 weeks. As soon as get home i have to move 8 hrs away so I'm just trying to get this thing going.

Having said that. I did search the boxes of hoses at the parts store all moring with no luck. So I think I will just get this thing on a trailer and order some stainless "Hoses" after i move.

My guess is that you are referring to the E-brake cables and not the brake fluid line. There is only one brake fluid line in the rear that comes down and T's off with two steel lines to each drum. If you need this line go get one made. If its for you e-brake them I have no idea.

But you need to be a little clearer and not an.... :flipoff2:

haha ya probably:) My wife tells me I'm ass all the time. It must be true. Where would i be able to get one made? The brake fluid line to the rear. I didn't know if that was possible or not.

I would check with some hydraulic shops... sure they can make one for you. Here in Az I have always gone through the Parker Store.

You can get longer brake hose set all over the place Q-teck 4 wheel drive or one of the Form board venders. These are already made up for lifted Jeeps.
The problem with a "get by" repair on Brakes is as long as it's working people forget as more important things come up. Sometimes untill it's too late.
