Larue is now making an OSR rifle... I wonder if he'll pay me copyright?

AR-10 if I read correctly... But still fucking retarded
Scott@Rockstomper 04-08-2009, 09:50 PM Yeah, it's .308. Semi-proprietary upper (they won't say what, if anything, it's compatible with, but they will say it's not compatible with the DPMS or Armalite lowers--it *may* be compatible with KAC parts, but good luck getting those) and semi-proprietary lower, that they won't sell separately, nor will they say what other spare parts it uses.
For the $2.5k, I'm thinking you can have an AR10T or DPMS equivalent, plus a railed floater forend, plus a small pile of mags, and maybe even have a few bucks left over for ammo or optics. Or reach out even farther still with a .338 Lapua AR30 http://www.armalite.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=30M338&ReturnUrl=Categories2.aspx?Category=0406c9ff-539d-4b4c-ae1f-d045b91324c3

misterfubar 04-10-2009, 04:57 AM Does .308 perform well enough out of a 16" barrel to slap a "Sniper" label on it? Or is that what they mean by Optimized?

That guy is such a fucking clown. It amazes me the way people over there hang on his every word. I really am surprised that only one douchebag managed to nut up the cajones to say anything over here.
I'm not surprised that ML himself didn't have the balls to sign up and post in his own defense, but instead sat in his nifty little clubhouse pounding away on the keyboard and whipping his pathetic followers into a frenzy about the evil OSR folks who said bad things about him.
While I do respect his ability to produce quality product, it is douchebaggery like this that is EXACTLY the reason why he will never see another dime of my money. Too many other decent vendors\manufacturers out there.
sinistertrucker 08-09-2009, 07:08 PM I got to know a lajew nut swinger last year. The dumbass was selling all non 'pure' parts in favor of some mo betta stuff. The Black Sheep 08-09-2009, 07:17 PM Oh well. How do you explain (not that its even worth the effort) to a bunch of guys that are blindly in love with a brand name that some people look beyond the marketing and fancy logos. I don't think anybody here ever bashed Larue's quality he puts in his mounts etc, just the fact that he's a tool and this thread and the one on ARFCOM totally hammers that fact home.
Of coarse many of the guys in ARFCOM are reading this and probably polishing their rifles and carbines decked on in Lapoo mounts and all kinds of mall ninja SHTF accessories that they probably haven't shot more then a few rounds down range in order to preserve it in "fighting condition" for the TEOTWAWKI.

Unnecessary perhaps, but still funny.:p . He stays in Texas and hides behind his fan boys because he has no defense other than, "Ooo my stuff's better". Not enough balls to come to Cali and fight. "Oh, I'm great, I wrote a check" Just like in gen 4x4, the check writer's write and the people who can, do.

Chris 08-10-2009, 11:27 AM I have a feeling that are more than a few people here who could out machine ML any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
kwrangln 08-10-2009, 06:53 PM Whats funny is this is far from the first time that the PBB and ARF have been linked to each other in a L/T discussion. There were several links to the PBB OSR in a thread in the ARF AK section that Mr. Larue was personally involved in when Doc posted up his AK fastfire mount.
Guess ML just was running low on drama and felt the need to dig something up claiming it as new when he had known about it for over a year. Simply a way to fan the flames and get the local crowd all riled up.
Kinda sad really when you think about it.
300sniper 08-10-2009, 06:58 PM there was a thread over there not too long ago that actually had pirate4x4 in the title. it was around the same time that my .284 build thread was linked over there. i might have found the thread about my rifle build instead of being showed it if i was searching the web for myself:laughing::stirthepot:

ZjSteveO 08-10-2009, 07:26 PM I like how there are people bragging over spending thousands on his stuff. My latest ar build was using a 545 dollar carbine, a armalite a2 stock assembly I bought used for 35 dollars and a old bushnell 3x9x40 scope. I have killed more shit with that than those guys have killed period. I build my own shit for low bucks and use the piss out of it, no shame in that.

Jam Master Jay 08-10-2009, 07:50 PM I've never understood the goobers at arfcom. It's like they have a certain recipe for an AR that you're obligated to follow and if you think outside the box they make fun of you. Lapoo stuff is a key ingredient in their recipe.
They all think they're going to be involved in some sort of end-of-the-world urban combat scenario where they'll singlehandedly take out the enemy forces because of the bolt-ons they have make them and their weapon superior.
Personally, when it comes to money spent on mounts and optics I think all the Lapoo stuff is beyond the point of diminishing returns. IE: The difference between a $5 item and the $100 version may be significant but the difference between the $100 version and the $200 is much less noticeable.

Velvet lined? More like a draped poncho liner with 2-3 knives (obviously one tactical folder, 1 fixed blade with tactical 550 cord handle and possibly a bonus karambit), 1 machete, no less than 1 sure fire flashlight, no less than 2 EBR's and various ammo strategically placed. :shaking::laughing:

I am a member on both sites. I have my ARs, pistols, and 4x4s. The tech of Arfcom is just as good as the tech on Pirate.
Brand loyalty is brand loyalty. You will always have fanboys, and Larue has plenty on Arfcom - just like Atlas has many.
Disclaimer:
I have no direct experience with Atlas or Larue's products (mainly because I am too poor).
aloharover 08-11-2009, 07:44 AM Brand loyalty is brand loyalty.
Yeah its the basic GM-v-Dodge-v-Ford for a tow rig or CJ-v-FJ40-v-Series Rover for an old school SWB trail rig.
These types of arguments happen in many hobbies.
But when was the last time you saw the CEO of GM post up on the internet because he didn't like what was said about him in one of the threads in the towing forum?
Its all pretty childish and to even go onto the other board and add a post borders on the same. You are just feeding into the high school mentality, not to mention you could possibly become a band member here.

Sorry. I disagree.
I've long belonged to both, but PBB is where I spend my time.
The tech on Barfcom is nowhere near as good as the PBB. Yes, there is some good tech, some decent ballistic discussion and excellent troubleshooting that goes on over there. But the majority of it is product reviews, and bolt on applications. You don't see threads every day where people are machining new firearms out of junkyard scrap that outperform the best factory offerings.
A rock crawler is a much more complicated machine than a firearm. People here do technical things that 90% of Barfcom couldn't begin to wrap their head around. There is much more to tech than comparing two different competing brands of bolt-on tactical handguards.

Chris 08-11-2009, 09:24 AM I have the privilege of being minorly aquainted with armorers in each of my local Police Departments, both of which are in the top five largest in the country, one of which is widely known for it's team of special people. Add to that my cousin is some kind of super secret sniper for the Marine corp. He won't tell me much but I know he's been a few places in the sandbox and done a few things that get lines drawn over them in after action reports. Having said all that, none of them tell me that they see Lapoo stuff.
The guy who is the armorer for the one Dept said they had some of it until admin realized they spent way too much on it and the guys could find stuff that worked absolutely the same and was half the price, the other armorer said there's just no way they are buying his "overpriced junk" My cousin tells me he sees some of it now and again but it sure isn't what ML makes it out to be among people who shoot people for a living.
Larue is a wiener.

"my brand x lower and brand y upper are two different shades of black"
"my pistol grip came with a new allen head screw but not a long reach allen wrench to tighten it, so I had to waste my afternoon going to the hardware store for an allen wrench"
"check out my new all-black duracoat job"
"let's have a picture thread of the same thing we had one of last week"

I was speaking more on the lines of troubleshooting and ballistics/reloading, which is technical however NOT fab (I forgot that tech is fab on PBB), which Arf doesn't (couldn't) compare to PBB in.
So I agree, I just could've worded my post better, hah.
I am not defending anybody here either, I like PBB and Arf (have been a long member of both too, lost my old login here and there a while back) - just saying.

Between what I remember of that board and what I see of ARF.com that is a perfect match of people
Like the majority of outsiders say though, there is a shtload of good tech here. I think the majority of this board or it's posters are DIY and are all about hands on modifications.
Maybe thats how we get the bad rap, from people coming in here trying to spew how much better or how their bolt on works compared to something someone turned out in their garage and had a complete understanding of how it works.
When people spew bullshit why not tell them to drink bleach and eat a bowl of dicks

aloharover 08-11-2009, 10:44 AM I find the tech underwhelming, and the whining overwhelming, myself.

f0cker 08-11-2009, 11:15 AM  Times like these warm my heart. ML can choke on a dick. What a fucking prick.
The Black Sheep 08-11-2009, 11:43 AM I have the privilege of being minorly aquainted with armorers in each of my local Police Departments, both of which are in the top five largest in the country, one of which is widely known for it's team of special people.
I find this almost as interesting as I find it hilarious.
Chris 08-11-2009, 12:14 PM I like how when someone posts something they don't agree with, they just delete the posts. My goodness.

Looks like one of the foolios that runs that place deleted a lot of posts.
The Black Sheep 08-11-2009, 04:11 PM Well you gotta figure, AR15.com really is a business. Yes its a message board but so if Pirate4x4 and somebody is being paid money for net traffic and advertising. Mark Larue even in all his self proclaimed glory has a large following with people that spend alot of money on his products, then they tell other people about it and to go take a peak at ARFCOM etc etc and the cycle continues. As a business I wouldn't want to risk a loss from one of the "Industry partners" getting pissy and leaving among other things. I'm not defending ML or ARFCOM, I'm just saying I can see and understand them deleting posts that stir the pot so to speak. Personally I think he's a whiny bitch, but it wouldn't surpise me if he had a mod or two in his pocket either by tricking out a few of their ARs.
I wonder how he has so much time to surf the net instead of making mounts that can chop down trees.
Chris 08-11-2009, 04:22 PM I wonder how he has so much time to surf the net instead of making mounts that can chop down trees. He's gotta do something while he's being sucked off by all those homo's.
Citzen_Hawk 08-12-2009, 12:10 AM Surprised this thread is still going. Lock and it let die as all thats being proven is the sterotypes that each board has of the other boards. The way Larue chooses to do buisness is up to them. That includes the public bad behavior and all. It is not this boards position to help them reinforce(sp?) somebody's misguided ways.

ooh, somebody said something about somebody else. LOCK THE THREAD
It is this board's position to inform it's other readers of bad business practices that might affect a member of said board.

Sadly this is so true. I'm currently debating going back to school....a tech school this time around. Go figure.

:laughing::laughing:
Say it ain't so. College educations over there???
I'd think that a college education would better prepare someone to contribute content beyond "+1, ibtl" or whatever unoriginal shit that they all add to every thread to bump their post counts and become super-ninja-secret-tactical-commando-warriors.

The intent was to imply that the assclowns over there make more $$$ than your normal, run of the mill mall ninja, therefore allowing them to afford LaWhore's bullshit.
I'm really an innocent bystander in the whole thing. I've only heard the name brought up once around the office and I giggled. We don't have any of his stuff floating around and I doubt we will (although if he's willing to sponsor our sniper team with some stuff without that gayass logo he has, we'd take it). I'm pretty much in agreement with the masses here, but I have also seen some totally awesome stuff that he has done (Rick Perry visit, new range). I think he just needs to let approximately a million p.s.i. out of his ego.:D
Chris 08-12-2009, 10:36 AM without that gayass logo he has, we'd take it). You mean you OK boys don't want stuff with a big Texass logo on it?
I think he just needs to let approximately a million p.s.i. out of his ego.:DHe does let about a million PSI out of his mouth every day, does that count?
Grendel 08-12-2009, 11:21 AM Why would we lock this thread?
We have a tendency to NOT lock threads... not our gig. Let the masses speak.

Yup. It's like a big old Bat signal, "HEY, WE'RE A BUNCH OF LOSERS, COME KICK OUR ASSES!!!!!!!!!"

Diction is not your strong suit.
Since I'm replying anyway. It amazes me that the people at arfcom can't understand the difference between choosing not to buy a product based on product performance and choosing not to buy a product based on the history, reputation, religious affiliation, etc. of the company.

Ben Segrest 09-24-2009, 09:33 AM I couldn't make it all the way through the first page. In a way, I can see a correlation between Larue and Obama. Question either one and you automatically have an agenda.
