Don't think anyone is doing live coverage, but I'll have up photos from the day and results up in the gallery Saturday night, and Dirty Doug from Wicked Gravity is going to be shooting video, so he should have something up pretty quick as well.

Just got the word the race is over. Top six as follows:

1st- Rick Deremo
2nd- Brad Lovell
3rd- Levi Shirley
4th- ?
5th- Joachim Schwiesow
6th- Mark Munson

Was told that Shannon had the fastest time of the day on one course of 1:36. Apparently Shannon Campbell and Brian Shirley were doing well, but both caught banners on one of their runs, which took them out of the hunt.

Congrats to the top six!!!

Not really. Deremo kicks ass no matter what he is driving. He is always in the hunt. He wouldn't have built that for rock racing if he didn't think it wouldn't have worked.

Levi won in Campbell's rig last year at Hannibal. Now he has his own Campbell rig and finished 3rd at the first west event. Plus it helps he can drive. :smokin:

Good for them.

They just bought it a few months ago. I wasn't there or didn't see any pics, but I'm going out on a limb to say yeah, he was driving his new rig that he has never raced in XRRA before...which was Rick's old rig last year.

He ran it in Albuquerque when we were there. Thats awesome for Levi! Might be time for dad to retire!:D

Slow down on the retiriment thing! I'll keep driving as long as they can push me up beside the car and strap me in! As long as Deremo is around I wont be the old guy:flipoff2: His win was well deserved after busting his ass to get the car ready last month. It also means I,ve got a few good years left:flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2: I'm VERY proud of Levi for the job he did yesterday! Hes just gonna get tougher with seat time. Can wait till Gray Rock. Munson is still on cloud nine with his first podium in the west.

Thanks everyone. We worked hard to get the car finished and dialed in for XRRA. We ran the first two courses with lockers. Third course we had no lockers due to a massive airline leak. Then the last four courses we ran only with the rear locker because we did'nt have time to do repairs.
When I told Randy Rodd what I wanted to build he thought I was crazy, but he and Jason built a great car and the sleepless nights paid off.

Levi, you drove a great race and I see the tip I gave you on the shifter must have worked because you were hooked up in the shoot out.

Munson way to go bro I love your new rebar sponsor:D

So, I gotta' ask ...

Is it Dermo or Deremo ?

I've seen it spelled both ways.

I suck at spelling and I really suck at remembering names. I think I may be getting old timmers.

It's pronounced Dermo BUT ITS spelled Deremo

Thanks Rick and congrats, again!

I hope this IFS thing doesn't catch on. I don't think many of us want to try and tackle the technical side of a build like that ... let alone the $$$ side of it.

My avitar pic is 4x4 4-wheel independent with inboard-mounted brakes . . . very smooth ride, sucks up the bumps . . . built in 1984. I'm sold on the virtues of IFS for ground clearance and reduction of unsprung weight. There's nothing better in the whoops. It's great to see you in the winners circle, Rick!!!

The way tracks are being built nowadays, as in Tough Truck stlye, IFS makes sense. If it was a track like Cedar, it wouldn't make much sense. If XRRA balances tracks right, it'll be a good battle for the championship between straight axle and IFS. If not, it'll be IFS at the top unless something like happened to Shannon takes place.

Then most everyone else will not need to worry...they seem to think IFS is the only way now that they've seen it work on two tracks ;)

I wasn't in Moab...I'm saving my coin for Vegas to Reno. :dustin:
