: 79 Bronco full-size axels under 69 EB? C-6, NP-205?
TahoeBRONCO 09-02-2002, 01:34 AM Well I've got a 69 EB frame tagged and titled, and I've decided not to cut my 73.
I really want an all around 4x4 to wheel and not worry about banging up to much.
Thought of building one from the ground up.
Bought 2 axels today,dana high-pinion 44 w/disc and a 9"from a full-size 79 bronco.
The rear looks fairly simple, spring perches and in-board shocks [BC]stuff.
The front is another matter.I would really like to talk to someone whose done this modification.
If you know of any articles on the subject please post them here.

Could'nt pass up on the bb c6 np205,not to sure if this
fits in the build up plan,I sure would like to put that
205 behind an nv or np 435,I'll call advance tues.
I'f you have experience with this one I'd like to
hear it,hell I'll give ya a bigB c6 minus the int.housing.
just kidding ! THANKS in advance
Rob Wolf
By the way I got all the front suspension with the axel, and it has the sway bar that i'm sure has
got to go.I was told a 79 standard F-series without the sway bar would be easier to make work.
Flatty 09-02-2002, 09:29 AM I just finished this swap into my 77. The swap is pretty simple. you do have to cut the wedges out and reweld them 3" inboard. I had Mimke Ladd at Bent and Twisted do this for me 530-342-3003. As for the rest, you can use the stock panhard, but you will need to chop it down, and then reweld it all back together to make it shorter. DO NOT use the stock F150 or Bronco suspension. Save the hassle and buy yourself some front coils, and use Mike LAdd's F150 rear setup. The rear will give you GOBS of flex, and the front will work well also. You have to use some 5.5" coils to match ther lift you get out of the rear. If you have any questions about this setup feel freee to ask me.

The '79 uses cast wedges does it not? much harder to relocate. early F-150(steel wedges) & all(?) F-250 axles would be a better candidate, unless your narrowing it to stock EB length. Then cut 6" outa the long tube and yur set.
Whats the "Mike LAdd's F150 rear setup" all about?? (curious)

I put some info up here a while back on this:

any more questions, fire away
Flatty 09-03-2002, 05:15 PM Mike Ladd owns Bent and Twisted 4 wheel drive up in chico. He make sa rear mount so that you can use some F150 springs for the rear. As many of you know, the F 150 springs are SOFT, and it is a great way to get 6" of lift out of your rig. The kit is a weld on setup that leaves your springs outboarded, but does a shackle flip at the same time. The setup works GREAT, and drives like a caddy down the road. Call Mike Ladd and he will tell you all the reasons why this is a great setup to go with. Lets not also forget that this setup is CHEAPER than installing some other leafs in back.
As for the wedges, I would relocate them. You will be saving a hassle by building some of your own spring mounts for the front. It is really not that hard to move the C cups in, but it is time consuming. This is why I had Mike do mine for me. He has done many of these things in the past, and he is great at it. He also installs ring and pinions and lockers. He ca do it all at once for you when you want ti done.

TahoeBRONCO 09-03-2002, 10:40 PM Thanks Mike M.(sierra bronco)
I think I'm going the route you did with a few changes.
The 79 brackets are giong to work for my mod.(ie.the spring buckets are 2" taller and stick out from
the frame farther ( 6" spring =4" lift) looks like moving moving in the perch and the 79 upper spring being
out farther from the frame should get those springs vertical.
The rear radius arm bracket is twice as big as the stocker and I'll weld them 2" farther out on each side.
Where I'm going to need help is with the track arm and tie rod over conversion.

Sounds like a good plan. A little bend in the coil when at rest hasn't seemed to effected mine in 2 years, so I wouldn't knock myself out trying to get em perfect. Just make sure your coil clamps are secure. Outboarding the bracket at the frame sounds like a good alternative to moving the wedges. Even better if you could raise em up a little so they hang up less. And try to angle em so that the bushing is not bound up at rest.
The track bar is simple, like has been said, just cut it at a straight section and go find some pipe that will tightly sleeve it. In addition to welding the ends of your sleeve, drill some holes in it and plug weld it.
Here's some info on the chevy tie rod over conversion

Or you can use the ford stuff, BC Broncos has info on it's site.
Good luck
