: Clayton April 24th & 25th
broncofreak2000 04-13-2009, 04:15 PM Ok, after reading in other threads and talking to some friends, it looks like a few people will be there. If your going that weekend or think you will, post up and maybe we can all meet up while we are there. If you want post a pic of your ride and where you are staying.
Redruuster 04-13-2009, 08:13 PM Larry "Showtime" Jordan will be there with his band of crazy "Bud Light Buddies" they are staying at the Country Inn. I'm staying in room 4 at the A&A Annex, Phil B will be in room 2 of the Annex. I hear Jerry from CORE and his buddy Phil should be there as well. Lots of Oklahoma Heavy Hitters. I'll be towing in the Silver Dodge with Staks and the Red Ruuster in tow. The fawkin weather better stay good, I'm tired of 60 mph winds, 45 degree weather, rain and that nasty burnt house smell.
Cya there
Heath
broncofreak2000 04-13-2009, 08:22 PM I will be part of Larry Jordans bunch!! I still need to find a room.
Redruuster 04-14-2009, 07:32 AM Make him haul his camper down there for you. Is there nothing at the A&A?
Redruuster 04-14-2009, 07:36 AM I just called the A&A at (918) 569-4101, they still have 6 rooms available. I think they are about $55.00 a night.
mrtoddb 04-14-2009, 12:06 PM Danny Murphy(blue EB, 5.0, 60's) and a few other guys from OKC area will be there as well. I would be, but with a brand new tranny and engine set up, I think I would rather not have Clayton be my shakedown run. Ya'll have fun!!

Redruuster 04-24-2009, 09:45 AM Sittin here at work and chompin at the bit, damn you Friday wheelers.
Redruuster 04-24-2009, 11:20 PM we've arrived ready to hit it but hittint he bed instead.
hopuit 04-26-2009, 08:19 AM Wow what a weekend.. Met a really good group to run with and we hit alot of trails for my first time at Clayton. Trails I know we done include 8-point, C&H Sugar, Slims Slope, Green Mamba Extension at 1AM wow that is a wild trail. Next day we didn't stay very long but we hit Blacksheep Blvd but skipped the entrance then we done CakeWalk after that we needed to get loaded up to get home so we just ran Backside Loop and then headed to the trailer.. Clayton is a BLAST!! Now that I'm home I need to do some work on the jeep since taking the Green Mamba Extension. Nothing Broke that I couldn't wait to fix, so I'm very pleased with how my rig done. It seen alot of big rocks and serious trails. I do not have but a couple of pics since we forgot the Digital Camera and we need to develop pics we did take.
Jagermeister 04-26-2009, 02:10 PM Just got home from a great trip! NO BREAKAGE!!! Met some cool guy and saw some we havent seen in a while. We also ran part of a trail I've wanted to do for a while (PLUCKED). Both Casey and I only pulled cable once in order to get around that narrow gap between 2 house size boulders. Here are some of my pics.

linked&bobbed_S10 04-26-2009, 06:37 PM Was it wet down there? It doesn't seem that wet! The weekend before, the Blacksheep entrance was a waterfall.
I'm glad that you guys got some pics! Green Acres is the place to go. If only I could live between Clayton and Hot Springs!
Were there a lot of rigs down there this weekend? The tube Juggy, with the black hood and yellow grill passed me on I-40 Friday afternoon.
Jagermeister 04-26-2009, 07:41 PM I'd guess there were about 20 - 30 rigs. Our group alone ran with 7 - 10 each day.
Redruuster 04-27-2009, 08:16 AM Our group ran 7 on Saturday, 6 on Sunday, hooked up with three rigs from Woodward, Super Cool Fellas. I'll post up some pics when my photographer sends them over. Didn't get any night wheelin, I realized this weekend I'm a pussy and can't hang with " Showtime", I made it home on Sunday and flogged myself for my inferiority.
Did anyone get pics or run with the group from Iowa and their "Clown Crawlers" I heard they tackled Black Sheep with 32" tires and rigs with a 60" wheelbase. Pisses me off:flipoff2:
OkLaHoMaYJ 04-27-2009, 01:12 PM I have over 100 pictures that I can get uploaded tonight and post them up as well. Had a great time and the weather was perfect.
broncofreak2000 04-27-2009, 01:49 PM Heath, it was good to meet you Friday night. I wish we could have ran together, but that will wait till another time. I have a few more upgrades to make.
I saw that group of clown crawlers your talking about Saturday morning! They came out on to the main trail at the bottom of KTs climb. We where waiting for our group to catch up with us, they asked us about it, and then started going up it! What are those things built on, most of the ones I saw didn't even have winches.
Redruuster 04-27-2009, 03:19 PM I have no idea what those little crawlers were, they told us originally they were built for sand dunes, 2wd, mid engine and the driver would sit over the rear axle, they have since been modified to 4wd and a conventional seat configuration but they were still funky as hell.
BTW good to meet you too, you figure out your propane problem yet?
Heath
broncofreak2000 04-27-2009, 05:35 PM No, not yet. It will go on the back burner for a few months. I'm getting married in June, so I have alot to get done before then. She wants me to get it fixed right and to have fun, but I have other priorities to get finished first.
I've got some ideas on the propane, some plans to upgrade the brakes, and most likely 3 link the front. We will be back ready to wheel hard.
YJ4rocks 04-28-2009, 11:03 AM Heath I'll email those pics to you tonight!
scooter141 04-30-2009, 04:24 PM Our group ran 7 on Saturday, 6 on Sunday, hooked up with three rigs from Woodward, Super Cool Fellas.
I dont know about "cool" but we had allot of fun......
Thanks again to all of you for dragging us around and helping us. We had never been there before, but are already trying to round up another trip before it gets too hot...

OkLaHoMaYJ 05-01-2009, 10:13 AM That's me in blue wearing the CORE shirt at the entrance to Green Mamba Extension. That was an awesome weekend and good to meet all of you guys from Woodward.

OkLaHoMaYJ 05-01-2009, 11:03 AM The Bounty Extension....I walked it and I don't see how anyone can make it without winching. Its nasty, steep, extreme off cambers, and huge rocks.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/RockReady/IMG_1652.jpg
The breakage...pretty mild considering how most of the drove :smokin:
Spicer u joint broke taking out the ears on an axle shaft. All 35 spline non chromoly. Pretty impressed how they held up.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/RockReady/IMG_1592.jpg
Yukon 35 spline chromoly inners and outers, CTM's, and Warn 35 spline hubs and the Chromoly outer let go!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/RockReady/IMG_1595.jpg
Note to self....never run your Edge on 5 (race) and try to tow at 85mph. It breaks shit. Blue dodge suffered some serious engine problems just west of Shawnee and could no longer tow under its own power. It was spewing oil everywhere.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/RockReady/IMG_1654.jpg
The solution?

hopuit 05-01-2009, 11:13 AM Hey good pics guys!! I wish I would have got some pics on the Green Mamba Ext. Had a good wheel stand a time or two getting up those steps.:D I think I tried every angle until I finally found where I wouldn't belly out or rip off the windshield on the passenger side. I would have had a smashed passenger door if I would have had it on.
brutal 05-01-2009, 08:09 PM What size tires was the busted Yukon 35s running? looks like ya'll had a good time...L

47'' LTB's.
The funny thing is that he wasn't even on it at all (500hp 406). Top of Cake Walk. He ran all of the harder stuff (KT, Slims, Blacksheep, and Green Mamba) without a hitch.
linked&bobbed_S10 05-01-2009, 08:49 PM Was he climbing the big ledge at the top of Cake Walk or going to the right of it? We loosened up some dirt the weekend before right below that big ledge.
OkLaHoMaYJ 05-01-2009, 09:06 PM He hadn't even made it to the ledges yet. The rear axle got hung up and he tried to bump it over and thats when it broke. About 10' short of the ledges you're speaking of.
linked&bobbed_S10 05-01-2009, 09:10 PM Cake Walk is a fun trail! It's gonna be a 5 soon!
Next trip i hope to do C & H Sugar, Blacksheep, 3 trail, and Waterfall! 38's can only take me so far!

Corvett engine,( LS or LT something), 350 Trans, Atlas, Rockwells, 4-wheel steer, 49 Irocks, 125 wheelbase.
I am not a Chevy guy so I cant remember what the engine is exactly.

We came down C&H and that was just spooky. Several rigs got really light in the rear and almost went over. They had to throttle out to keep from going ass over.
hopuit 05-02-2009, 10:47 AM Wow I bet going down C&H is spooky. I had fun going up it, but the rain made it interesting just getting by the first tree at the bottom. atleast it only rained like 10 minutes.
linked&bobbed_S10 05-02-2009, 12:12 PM if you would've been there the weekend before, it was really wet on that friday, rained all day!

You guys been to Green Acres? 49" fit well, KT's climb is turning out to be the tough trail so hit it when you get there.
BTW what are you Texans going to do for local fun when Katemcy closes down? Is Trees worth a shit?

Green acres is where we go (did KTs', tight vertical) and now that Katemcy's out we'll be hitting Superlift and Clayton more....we still have some good ranches left around here.... Trees, Clines', Gilmer,Satans' Playground, EDRA,.Spring, a few more....but Clayton's the shit....L

Blacksheep is easier to make if your running leafsprings up front, we have coilovers and had hell...too much flex..if you can lift the drivers tires when you get up on the ledge on the right you'll walk it...but we kept going under the ledge with the front drivers..great trail though....L

Redruuster 05-04-2009, 08:29 PM What trail is the big black wrangler on 44 boggers on that is loose with the big ledge?
If its the picture with the mosquito fogger running on the back of his rig well then your speaking of KT's Climb. This is one steep nasty bitch and it's getting more and more dug out. Not many accomplished this part of the climb without a winch that weekend. Ugly Bastard but lots of fun.
linked&bobbed_S10 05-04-2009, 08:39 PM Is that above the climb that you see from the "road" at the bottom?
Jagermeister 05-05-2009, 04:09 PM Looks like KT's to me. That trail change a little from friday to Saturday when one of the large slabs moved down 10 feet or so.
Jagermeister 05-05-2009, 04:17 PM Starting the trail at the bottom and far left is fun and very tippy. I've only seen one guy without rear steer go up without rolling.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u182/Jason_Kunkel/DSC01154.jpg
linked&bobbed_S10 05-05-2009, 04:51 PM Ya! I've come to the conclusion that the right side is where I would have to try! Does the trail continue up the mountain like Blacksheep? Or is it just a climb, hence KT's Climb?
What is C & H Sugar like?

I didn't realize this pic was the left side of KT's, not many run it from this side including me, too big a pussy I guess. I'm really psyching myself though for an allout not give a shit weekend at Green Acres. Most of the time we hammer at an obstacle until we say. "I can't wheel if its broke so throw me a winch line", then pussy out. The "Allout Weekend" would be run "Bounty" and not care how much shit you break, run the left side of KT's and not care if you put it on its lid, run Gobblers Knob from top to bottom and then back the other way and just not care. It ain't gonna be memorial weekend though, don't want to ruin a bunch of parts before summer.
C&H is tough at the bottom but a quick fun trail to the top nonetheless, probably a 3 to 4 trail
linked&bobbed_S10 05-05-2009, 07:24 PM We ran Cake Walk the weekend before you guys, what are some of the other/better 4 trails there? Maybe some of the not as extreme 5 trails, if that is possible? What is Tucker's Triumph like?
Redruuster 05-05-2009, 07:48 PM 3 Trail, Cake Walk, Green Momba, WetNWild, Walk in the Park, Zig Zag, Backside Loop, The upper portion of Black Sheep and KT's Climb maybe. And almost everything at Freilings. I think Tuckers Triumph is just the road up the back of the mountain.
linked&bobbed_S10 05-06-2009, 02:37 PM Tucker's Triumph is the trail just left after you cross the airstrip to start up that road. I saw the sign, but it said something intimidating!
okiebindernut 05-06-2009, 02:49 PM We've been up part of Tucker's Triumph. You get up there a ways and there is a rock ledge 3 to 4 feet tall that runs across the hill as far as you can see. I couldn't see where to go from there, so instead winching up the ledge we turned around and went back. Fun trail though.

87yjtoy 05-07-2009, 10:19 PM We've been up part of Tucker's Triumph. You get up there a ways and there is a rock ledge 3 to 4 feet tall that runs across the hill as far as you can see. I couldn't see where to go from there, so instead winching up the ledge we turned around and went back. Fun trail though.
when you get to that ledge, go to the right at the end of it just before you get to the road to the back of the mountain, it gets doable, then head back to the left & turn out to the right exit right across from C & H sugar.
