Testfitted the J60 steering box, and noticed that the pitman arm is rather close to the leaf pack. Don't really know how much the spring pack will come up under heavy load.
What do you guys think? Is this the way to mount the box?

Don't know .... doubt if anyone will know for sure, you really have no choice here as to where to mount it, you could always mount it, flex it up and install a bumpstop directly in front of it if you need it. I had to lower my passenger side bumpstop for the crossover steering because it was contacting the drag link under full compression.

Your rig is SU, and probably has about 3" or so between the bumpstop and the axle. You shoud be just fine.
But like Butch says, the only way to find out is to go out and flex it.. Or get a different pittman arm..

I have never instaled a 60 box but I have done scout boxes wich are about the same idea. I would say when positioning the box you would want that drag link and pitman as fricken close to the frame as possible. maybe try a flatter pitman arm. and rotate the box a little.
the top of the nut on my rod end is about 1/4" away from the frame and at full flex with extended bump stops my tie rod still stufs me pitman. then again I am running a soa with high steer.
if you remain sua with stock arms it may clear fine.
sleaving the frame and plating both sides (often over looked) will also prevent a ton of frame stress and is worth your time.
and............no matter how it turns out.....it still beats the shit out of not having power steering. :D

Gonna try and see if the stock 40 flat pitman arm fit's, could the sharper angle that the drag link will have with the flat pitman arm cause problem's?

the 40 pitman is the right splines and all...BUT the bend is upwards, cause those splines are tapered.....
the 75 series, or 80 series pitman arm will work, around $179 from toyota.....

Got pics of the 75 and 80 series arms? I got one for a 70 series with the expectation that it was flat, but no, only about an inch more clearance...so I am going to a scout p/s box with a wagoneer pitman arm.
