Ok I'm finally going to make it to the Moab area, BUT It's with the wife on vacation and were driving the wifes '99 Durango. So here's my question, we are going to drive from seattle through Idaho into Montana (meet up with my brother and family) then camp in Yellowstone. Then head down through the dinosaurland area and into Arches/Canyonland/ Moab area for a couple days. We want to be able to go out and see the area but I just can't see paying a what the brochure says "Naturalist" driver to take us out on a jeep tour. Is there any areas we would want to attempt to drive in a stock Durango? And are there any maps of trails available. I haven't been able so far to find any maps online. Anyone with suggestions for places to see anywhere on our trip including Moab area please HELP ME!!!!

I found this "cheepjeep" tour takes you out in a "significantly modified Tracker" So I would think that my stock Durango would do alright in certain areas as well?

I saw a "Moab 4WD trails" brochure in the hotel while I was there last weekend. They have maps to "Moab Rim" and "Poison Spider" and a couple of others were listed. I think they might be doable. There were also several easy trails that were run by basically stock Blazers so I know they are there, I just didn't have any interest in them...

For a get a whole bunch of stuff into one trip in a stock vehicle I recommend the White Rim Trail. Normally a 2 day trip with a camp in the middle, I did it in one day years ago. Bunch of arches, killer river overlook, some ledges that are manageable in a stocker, fun trail.

Here is a great resource for Moab trail info: http://www.4x4now.com/mu4wd.htm
Even better is Charles Wells book Moab Back Roads and 4 Wheel Drive Trails: http://www.4x4books.com/mub.htm
Have fun!

I'm going to be there sometime around the end of september and the beginning of october.
I wish I could afford the gas for taking/trailering the blazer but it looks like the grocery getter is gettin wheeled a lil.:bounce2:
Thanks for the map links and trail names I'm going to check them out right now......
