I own a 1996 chevrolet k1500 pickup. its ext cab 6 ft bed completely stock. im looking for a good 6 inch lift kit when it comes to quality and offroad functionality but this truck is my daily driver too so im also looking for the smoothest on road ride possible. i was looking into rough country because its dirt cheap but after reading reviews and thinking it over im now leaning towards extreme suspension and performance series II. also known as dick cepek. in the april issue of off-road magazine this lift kit was featured as the best ifs kit available.

DC-II is an excellent choice.

There are so many to choose from. Petersons did a suspension shootout a while back so you could search there website and see if you can find it. Rough country is cheap but you get what you pay for. Look at superlift. I want to say they one the ahootiut but I'm not sure

The DC-II is the best pick in my opinion. I've read very good reviews on them.

My Superlift has a good ride and steering feel, basically like driving a stock truck (except for the Swsampers) but it doesn't seem to give quite as much lift as some of the other "6 inch" kits I have seen

Rancho is another good one and Skyjacker

I've installed most of them at the shop, Fabtech goes in the easiest by far. Everything I've done has come with blocks, add-a-leaf, or a combo in the rear, but Tuff Country offers rear springs for a decent price.

I just had the 6 In RCD kit installed on my truck. Did alot of research on lifts for this model/yr truck. I would not reccommend Fabtech, pro comp, etc. The RCD kit keeps the steering in alignment. The axles are at factory angels. No complaints with the kit yet aside from the shitty sway bar end link angles which shouldnt matter as im gonna do the sway bar pin mod so I can remove the end links easily while offroading. This kit is also fairly cheap and includes good set of bilstien shocks also which is a plus.

Like others have stated though, there are TONS of topics already on this subject and several magazine articles with good reads.

Gl hope this helps
