looking for opinions on a winch decision. i want a M12000, due to the weight and size of my truck, but from what i understand you cant use a multi mount with this winch. i like the idea of a multi mount winch as sometimes i've been pulled out from the rear cause it was the only way out. so i ask you would a X9500i with a multi mount be enough or should i solid mount the M12000 and rely on someone else to pull me out if i have to be pulled out backwards?

IMO you dont want a multimount unless you build your own on a flate plate with a 2" receiver tubr on each side of the plate. the ones you can buy are pieces of crap and in an angled pull they bend. ive seen it.

how big is your truck?

1/2 ton dodge on 36's. nothing special, but the size will get me wedged quite a bit. i'm guessing around 5000-5500 but i haven't weighed it yet. i planned on making my own plate. people just warned me about multi mounting the M12000 due to the strength of it.

you should be good with a 9500, thats what im going to be running on my range rover which (loaded) is about 5000.

you can make a m12000 a multi mount. one of are club members just did. hes running a fullsize chevy that bigblock, 1tons 44's.. etc.. weights around 6000 im guessing.. its damn heavy i know that. he just made his own mounting plate and put a reciever on the front and back of his truck, plus a reciever on his trailer for any other time he needs it.. it works great havent had any problems. just make sure its super beefy.

My friend has an M12000, and snatchblocked he couldn't pull my truck out of this hole... We required an M12000 and an 8274 -- both doubled up. For a fullsize, I'd get something that'll equal double the weight of your truck. Seems to me dodges are heavier than chevs too (thicker sheetmetal, thicker frame) and my truck weighs 6500 pounds with gear. For a fullsize, which you plan on getting stuck, I'd go with a 12,000 pound winch minimum.
