I looked in the FAQ but didn't see this so here goes. I am swapping a 79 CJ7 t-18/dana 20 combo w/stock bell housing/flywheel into my YJ. My current starter that was attached to the BA10 doesn't have enough stick out to engage the ring on the flywheel. The 79s appearantly used Ford starters with the typical Ford starter solenoid on the fender. My current starter uses a Chrysler starter relay and a starter w/built on solenoid similar to how a Chevy is. Do I need to swap over to the Ford starter/solenoid on the fender system, or is there a starter that will bolt up to the 79 bell and work with the Chrysler starter relay. Any help here is appreciated.

I had to swap over to the fender mounted Solenoid. Pretty simple, just make sure you ground it well.

Just being 100% clear, you went with the early Ford starter (CJ application) and a fender mounted solenoid.
