ok so this if for my dads truck (89 GM 3/4 ton van 350 TBI) nothing major but hears the problem he is looking for more power when towing. and I dont know where I should start due to the fact that its fule injected so what do most people do with out spending huge loads of $$.

Going up a 8% grade with the boat and a dirtbike in the back and a bunch of other shit it bogs down to 80 KMH or I guess thats about 53 MPH or somthing like that. On the flat no prob

whats wrong with 50mph up that steep of grady, i think thats damn good for a lil 350. headers, air filters. NOS jiMMy

are there intakes built for the TB?

edelbrock tbi intake, headers, k&n filter, and reburn the chip to improve/fix the fuel curve with the mods...

I have a Comp 12-388-4 cam (206 212, 425 440) in my 355TBI, everything else is stock (except the older ram's horn manifolds), stock chip even, and that has DECENT power.

I'd have to go with the air injection theory too. Blower, supercharger or turbo. Any of them will give you about half again as much power ( about 300-325 total ). It's all the time power with no bottles to fill. They only run about 6 lbs of boost, so it's not too hard on the motor. Still gets good gas mileage.

upgrade the ignition and exhaust.

My buddy just dropped three grand on a pro charger kit and he's pushin 440hp at the fly wheel out of a stock LS-1. He can light em up thru fourth gear going sideways...too much.

He doesn't have a LS-1. He's got a 210 hp TBI motor. If he puts a supercharger on it he still won't have as much hp as a stock LS-1.:rolleyes:

how about just dropping in the next lower gear?.. sticking the PSI to it is the best alternative even for the little 210 hp...
i think hes doing good for a 210 in a big ass van..

How about lower gears in the rearend? Also he could go with an aftermarket air filter set-up. Then I would say headers and a good exhaust system.

Vortec heads are supposed to help TBI motors a lot.

That motor's just a dog if it's it too big a rig. I have an '89 chevy 3/4 ton extended cab long bed truck. I use it to two my toy to the trails and it will slow down to 30mph on a 6 or 7% grade. The motor has just been rebuilt too. I'm thinking just too big a truck for a 350.... I'm really considering slapping a used 454 in it and calling it good.

Oh, and I am running 4:10 gears.. K&N filter, larger cat back exhaust... the chip made no difference so it was sent back...

I want to keep mine stock but, if I had it in a street rig, especially a tow rig, here is what I would do...

Build with low rpm torque in mind:
* Edel Performer TBI intake and cam
(or maybe a comp cam favored by some of the CK5 guys)
* "tweaked and cleaned" throttle body from a 454
(probably not needed)
* Vortek heads
* Thorley headers
* 2.5" into 3" single exhaust
* Good breather (maybe Amsoil, not K&N)
* Chip to match the changes

If money to blow:
* Roller rockers and tappets.
* 383 stroker (definately needs bigger TBI).
