Michelle made 3 hot-laps, then two drag passes. First pass, she beat my best time with a 6.990 100yard ET. Second run, she launched in 2nd and tried to grab 4th. No idea how many RPM she achieved.. but it'll only turn 5300rpm with a load on it (thanks to the 2bbl). No idea what it'll do when you hit Neutral after maxing out 3rd at WFO.

I got three passes in after that. After the second, I thought I heard the t'case whining again (just removed the whining twin-stick for a good single-stick) a little.. after my third pass, it was a squeak, squeak, squeak.. and oil pressure was 20psi "running" and 0 at idle, instead of the usual 20 at a hot idle and 50+ running.

:-(

27 months. From Memorial Day 2000 to Labor Day 2002.

Crank is scored. Rod is scored. #7 bearing is toast. I stopped checking after that - I held out a glimmer of hope that I could get a set of bearings to throw in and run on Sunday, but no luck after seeing the crank. I had to drive a Bronco instead. :(

This motor lasted a LOT longer than the first two. When I first started racing, my first season I ran 4 events, and blew up 2 engines. And on the one of the didn't-blow-up-the-race-engine events, I blew up the motor in my tow rig. :D (which was "Tigger" at the time)

The blown up "Tigger" 304 is what was rebuilt to become the 304C in the racer.. so that motor's now been blown up TWICE with less than 80k on the block. :D

I also got a few pics of HarleyM's Scout 80 he brought down. The little 152 powered Scout spanked the mud pit on Sunday - and pissed off more than a few of the 6cyl and V8 guys..

Also a few pics of my other buddy's Scout 80 - 10+:1 350, TH400.. looks like sh*t but *FAST*

And this poor Scout has been racing on our circuit for TWENTY YEARS.

Aa-yup. :(

That would be the one.

I guess it's time to "freshen it up" before the next season.

'cept I was already building a motor this winter.. ouch $$ :D

I see the future, and it is Chubby.

Michelle told me she wants to beat Heather (J. in a yellow/orange EB) one of these days.

The EB is running 6.2/6.3 and 55mph in the 100-yard drags vs our 6.9/7.0 and 45mph.

Getting the motor to 6300rpm will put us in the running with the 302 - after the 4bbl intake goes on - unless, of course, it likes to toss rods at that speed.

She asked if a Scout 800 is lighter than a SII - I mentioned that a stock 800 is lighter by a thousand pounds or so.. and since we have a stripped 800 tub and frame that needs a power plant and axles...

A 350/TH350 would tuck nicely into that 800's trans tunnel.. and I have some full width axles from a '74 100 4x4 pickup, along with the 1/2T's leaf springs..

Could build her a drag car pretty easily if I could find a good running 350/TH350/t'case combo for cheap. I've been looking for a while now..

Keep Little Devil 304C powered (with a 4bbl) for the obstacle races, and set up a 350 powered 800 for straight line drags.

Guess I'll be needin' a double trailer.

On the Good News side, HarleyM delivered my Dana 60F for my Travelette this weekend. :D And my friends n' I didn't even blow out a back loading it and the D44 into my pickup.

I am going to beat eveyone to the flaming. I will have a roll bar in the scout before the next race. The only reason I was running with no top or doors was to get as much weight off as possible. That poor little scout needs as much help as I can give it for now. I still haven't figured out why it was loading up so bad during the sand drags.

I was pulled over on the interstate monday on the way home and the guy told me that he has a complete body at his place he wants to sell. It is supposed to be in better shape than this one that I have now.

That I hate it when that happens.
