I just recently bought a 98 Ford Ranger 4x4 with a V6. Everything is stock.
What can I do to boost the performance?
I am a newbie so I appreciate what may be no brainer stuff to most people on these boards.
.:jester: I also know better than to pack my exhaust full of potatoes for better off road performance

I can understand, I have a 4.0 in my X and it is a strong motor but it needs a bit more ummfff. I have changed the exhaust, intake, throttle body, injectors, computer, plugs, and switched to synthetics. The biggest bangs were the exhaust, then computer, and intake. The rest helped not not to the same degree. Most of those mods are in the 200-300 or so. If you need any more details just let me know.

Are you running Dual Exhaust? What changes did you make to the intake and the computer?
Thanks

I use a Gibson cat back single outlet exhaust, cheap and effective, have had it for 4 years and loved it, not too loud not too quiet. The intake is an open element KKM, and the computer is a Jet Technologies chip, made the biggest difference in the shifting and rev points (automatic).
