ive got a knock comin from what sounds to be around the #7cyl area and i was just wonderin what would be the best way of findin out what the problem is, or just a general way to figure this kinda crap out.

cj8scrambld 09-03-2002, 01:57 PM You can pull the plug wire off one cyl at a time while it is running to find out what cyl is affected. MOFUGRA 09-03-2002, 02:39 PM could it possibly be my tranny, cuz the noise does seem to be comin for far back in the moto maybe even behind it....And does and tranny always move???, cuz if so then it may be my tranny. hy_desert_4wheeler 09-03-2002, 07:30 PM Pull the dust cover off of the bell housing then inspect the flywheel with a flahs light..Might be easier to tell if you remove the torque converter bolts.. be careful when you do though they are some times broke all the way out and will fall out when you push the torque converter back.. IS this question REAL?? Justin case here is the answer.. The "flexplate" AKA flywheel on a SBC is bolted to the crankshaft at the back of the block.. in the bell housing.. Maybe you should take your truck to a mechanic.. PTSchram 09-04-2002, 01:02 PM I once had a flywheel (flex plate) crack because the tranny bolts loosened. Damned thing knocked to beat hell. When I finally tore it apart, there were cracks between the bolt holes and the center hole. I couldn't believe it, I looked up the noise in my Chilton's and was a disbeliever until I crawled beneath it and found the misalignment that later was proven to be the cracks.
