I posted this ? on NAXJA and everybody hate my head off ok i understand if you ride ORV parks and have rules and such. But, if im riding on my own private land or local land by permission. Since i only run a cherry bomb glasspack with no cat anyway would it hurt it just on trail days i unbolt the exhaust at the crossmember and run it open. Wuld this hurt anything?

What could you possibly think you're gaining by doing that?

Do everyone that shares the trails a favor and leave your muffler on your vehicle.

Really? Are you looking for sound or "performance"?

You know what... now matter what your answer is, it is retarded. Run a muffler (as quite as possible) and take it all the back to the rear bumper. You will thank yourself later.

Fire is an issue. Some ORV parks won't even allow glass packs. On a trail run with our club you'd be left at camp. If it was an informal run we would put you at the rear of the group just because we don't want to listen to you if we didn't leave without you.:shaking:

Tread lightly and protect our trails. If you don't think it could start a fire have a buddy rev it up hard and hold your hand 6" away from the tailpipe. :homer:

It ain't performance, I can tell ya that.

If having an open header dumping under your feet helps to get your dick hard, go right ahead...just do it somewhere that no one else is forced to participate in your fucking idiocy.

Meanwhile the rest of us will be off building trucks that actually work well.

The main reason why your getting jumped on is cause everybody has been around that guy with the pissed off bumble bee loud ass rig. Some cool kid want's to stand out from everybody else by running straights. Everybody knows what they're trying to do and it just makes them that more of a douche. I'm not saying that's your case just my personal experience with these douches.

since your running in mud i'd suggest running no muffler or airfilter to get the most performance:grinpimp: maybe no hood also would increase airflow for the motor too :flipoff2:

It wont hurt anything but straight 6's sound extremely gay with straight pipes (diesel being the excepton) and a glasspack is is a straight through style muffler anyway so if it was going to cause a problem you would already have one.

That being said the V6 in my ranger is straight piped but it has enough tubing its pretty quiet just cackles more.

I think it all depends on where you are and what your doing. In Florida about 99% of the mud trucks are running straight pipes or headers. I have a feeling the trail riders won't like it as much because they seem to like it to be like a country club/ golf course environment, where the mud community is like one big frat party. Personally I run flomasters now just so I can hear the stereo and hold a conversation in the DD. If it was a trail rig only it would be headers in a heartbeat.

I started up my mud truck for the first time today. I'm running 8 inch long glass packs, which is only one SMALL step away from strait pipes. Well holy fawk is that thing LOUD!!! :D

I like loud trucks, but I can see why some people would get offended. But then again, if I actually cared I would have put real mufflers on it. :flipoff2:

Most of the time when I see guys running straight pipes out here they have anemic motors and their exhaust sounds loud, but shitty. Nobody is impressed, they just think said doofus is a jack ass. Then you have the trucks that are LOUD, but are running exhaust and big motors....they still can be annoying but generally people seem to improve and give thumbs up. Hell, I run full mufflers on mine and I still get an amazing amount of comments about how "cool" it sounds. Higher compression motors with a real cam for the win.

Anyways, if you want to sound "cool" build your motor up, don't run straight pipes. You aren't benefiting your motor anyways, unless its a serious drag motor and I doubt it is.

I run Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers. They are quiet until you stomp on it, then they bark pretty good. I have run my motor (mild 454) for a short time with open headers to move the rig around before I got the exhaust finished. There is no way in hell I would run it that way all the time.

neon lights around the dash are cool, too........

Its just preference my exhaust is ran up the back of the cab as a stack with a rain flap to annoy the shit outta people at idle lol. I cant stand the sound of a straight 6 with straight pipes but whos to say you shouldnt do it its your truck. If your worried about peoples oppinions of it throw on a muffler if you dont care run what you want.
