: Called a wheeler on his off-trail driving
SeanP 09-03-2002, 03:43 PM We were wrapping up a Fordyce run on Sunday and there were a bunch of vehicles at the top of WH 5 waiting on someone to get welded.
Some guy in a big orange buggy decided that rather than wait where he was, he would drive another 100 yards off the trail and over the bushes. A few (including my self) were yelling at him to stop and back down, but he just proceeded to drive right over these bushes and hold up his beer can as he went by.
I was pissed and walked right up to the driver and in a rather un-calm manner said WTF and read him the riot act. He said "I wasn't driving off the trail" I called him on his BS and he proceeded to put his beer down on his tire and make like he wanted to brawl. I told him that what he did was completely wrong and walked away. He knew he was wrong.
My wife overheard him and his buddies talking shiat about me like I was the bad guy. Well fawk him.
Just because you have 44" tires and rockwells doesn't mean you can drive over bushes, trees etc off trail.
I didn't get a picture, but here's to you Les:
:flipoff: :flipoff: :flipoff: :flipoff:

afecko 09-03-2002, 03:56 PM Right AWN! I wish you'd have gotten pics. This kinda shiznit is going to get my local trails shut down, and then I'm gonna go postal......
I just had to call out someone in our own FAWKING club for the same non-sense. At least the forest service wrote him a ticket for $250, that may teach him, though I doubt it.
(yes, Sean, it was one of the kids  )
Andy
When will assholes learn to stay on the trail? These are the same people who throw their shit all over the place. These are the same people who don't clean up their oil spills.
It's been said before, but assholes will be assholes!

Good for you, if *everyone* put it up front this shit would stop (or close enough). But, you know, piss on all your buddies for setting there and not backing you up... When dumb ass made like he wanted to brawl, they should have been there to beat his ass down when/if he pushed it... No this doofus is going to set around the camp with his bubba buddies and laugh about how “he showed you guys”… Pisses me off…
SeanP 09-03-2002, 04:49 PM Yeah, we could have beat his ass, but it wouldn't have done anything. Or he could have beat my ass or whatever. What needs to happen is this boy needs to be shunned for blatently driving off trail and tearing up some bushes. I can just imagine if there was a Sierra Club member up there taking pictures. He looked at me like I was an idiot when I told him that shiat like this gets trails closed.
Damn, I know somebody knows this guy and has a pic of his rig.
Big-ass orange rig with rockwells, 44s and and altas sticker on his drivers side. Name is Les and he lives Nor Cal.
SeanP
BadDog 09-03-2002, 04:57 PM While I'm all for beating him down, that wasn't really my point, though I guess it does look that way in my post. My point was that this guy should have been forced to take what you were giving him without feeling confident/arrogant enough to try to back you down. With a dozen or so guys backing you up, attempting to turn the tables on you by backing you down in front of HIS buds to save face would have been much less attractive. He might have been forced to acknowledge the wrong doing on his part instead of being "the tough guy nobody tells what to do". Like I said, now the story is “That tree hugger *thought* he was going to tell me where I could drive, guess I showed him. {grinning and punching his buddies in the ribs}” instead of something he would rather forget and not repeat… Then again, sometime violence IS the only answer that will get through...
onewhitetj 09-03-2002, 05:11 PM As usual, its the few that ruin it for the rest of us.
We spend so much energy trying to protect our trails, all the while these fawkers are helping take them away.
Dan shsss 09-03-2002, 05:47 PM seanP you did the right thing. I would have backed you up 100% and after you got down with the guy ,I would have siad something to him also.. Stay on the trails ,keep them clean even if that means picking up somone elses trash.
landusepbb 09-03-2002, 06:08 PM Good For You!!!!!

CJ Lagos 09-03-2002, 07:27 PM Just because you have 44" tires and rockwells doesn't mean you can drive over bushes, trees etc off trail.
It doesn't? :P
Just Kidding, way to stand up for everybody though!

injectedEB 09-03-2002, 08:41 PM Thank you! I have yet to wheel out there, but I would like to have the trail still open when I am able to run it.
FULLSIZE 09-03-2002, 09:03 PM is the buggy all tube or does it have a jeep body? more info, i wheel there and live near fordyce, grass valley, auburn area.
SeanP 09-03-2002, 10:58 PM apparently it is a 116" WB Jeep body with a tube frame. Also, not rockwells as I had thought.
SeanP
DCruiser138 09-03-2002, 11:09 PM i think i know who you meen. i saw a big ass orange buggy with some UGLY tube work on it on saturday. did i mention how ugly it was. nonetheless...way to bak our shit man....yee haw!
crash 09-03-2002, 11:10 PM clap clap, right awn, you did the right thing....
fivetenben 09-03-2002, 11:33 PM Good job man! Two weeks ago some prick passed us off trail near buck island lake. When we caught up to him later, we saw him slip as got in his jeep and whack his nuts on the door jam. Trail karma I guess...
jslater 09-03-2002, 11:37 PM The problems we witnessed on Sunday was a family on their quads did not have the patience to wait for us to move on. There was a TJ with a tacoed drag link heading out Gate Keeper that held us up for about 10 minutes, no big deal. So the dad proceded to drive the 3 three quads off the trail and right up through the bushes over downed logs and still got one stuck. I confronted them and let them how WRONG that was. The ATV's and motorcycles seem to be the biggest problem.
xjpart2 09-04-2002, 05:39 AM around here, well actually uwharrie NF in NC we have the same quad problem. actually we came up with a t-shirt/bumper sticker slogan that has yet to be put on a shirt or sticker
Quads Blow
You Suck
Your Girlfriends Hot
Wanna Fight
Hunter
Mugsy 09-04-2002, 06:00 AM My sig says it all!
Belly Dragger 09-04-2002, 07:30 AM Good Job!
As I've said before who's the bigger ass; the guy who points out your doing something wrong or the guy doing something wrong that's going to ruin it for everyone who comes after them and gets trails closed.
Given the choice, I'll be the ass that says it's wrong.
And given the choice between wheelers telling wheelers what's right or wrong OR having the greenies police us, I'd much rather self police thank you.

Mrs. Maniac 09-04-2002, 09:46 AM Anyone know a Pat from the Wicked Wheelers in Nevada who drives a yellow Bronco? He was at the top of the "sluice" near river crossing 4, driving over bushes, bouncing glass bottles out of the back of his rig and being a real A** to Mrs. Gearman when she talked to him about it. Wanted to fight Maniac and Gearman.
SeanP 09-04-2002, 09:55 AM I really think that a PBB Hall of Shame section is in order. Maybe Lance can start this and we can post pictures of idiots.
SeanP
pontiota 09-04-2002, 10:16 AM Nice job good for you we all need to be as agressive about this stuff.
It might not feel like you got through to him but it might make him think next time. I remember when I was a kid and did something stupit on the road and someone would confront me on it I would flip them off or yell back to save face but later think about it and tell myself how stupid that was this could work out the same.
I give you all a thumbs up for telling those Idiots how wrong they were...I have done the same and it seems they come from the same Idiot mold...Think they are top shit and want to fight about it...what fawking Jerks they are to ruin it for the rest of us...Whats the rush we are all not in a race to get anywhere fast on the trail...
I also agree on posting a pic of em if you can get one for the board..
BadDog 09-04-2002, 02:27 PM If we could keep the pics private for our own internal scorn and spite that would be great. But, as has been said before, if we start keeping a gallery of such things the green mafia will simply have a convenient place to pull pics to use against us. We should at least make them work to find pics of the stupid inbred morons among us...
Just remember, when you confront these people, do it as a group. Similar in concept to the "An armed society is a polite society" slogan. If there are an overwhelming number of people getting in your face, only the most foolish or utterly drunk would go on the offensive. If they do, you've got the backing to deal with them easily, they look a fool, AND we show solidarity. If they don't, then the point is made and they feel and look like a fool AND we show solidarity. Either way, the point is made and things WILL improve.
There should be no need for a single person to speak up and stand alone. That just makes it look like the person doing the right thing is the fringe extremist. You can easily imagine how they will describe the episode, "Hey, there were 7 rigs and 20 odd people but only one little tree hugger had a problem with what I was doing!" The rest of you panzies setting around watching and waiting on someone else to do something about jerks like that should learn to speak up... or at least back up those willing to speak up...

As I suspected, someone does something wrong and you immediately gang up on the rockwell crowd.
Just messing with you. I like the Page of Shame idea for the POR4x4 that would be good.
Belly Dragger 09-04-2002, 03:28 PM Wicked Wheelers; I only found a reference to a group in Cali. The email contact is Dferreira15@hotmail.com I found a website http://www.marksmark.net/wheelin8.htm referencing Wicked Wheelers but again for California. More Bay Area Wicked Wheelers (http://www.pavementsucks.com/album/album.cgi?album=10) don't see any yellow Bronco's. You sure you got the name right? I have not heard of Wicked Wheelers of Nevada. Could be just someone happens to have a sticker???
Dena Eskilsen 09-04-2002, 03:51 PM Crap-ola! not only am I a newbie but a dip-diddly one cuz I meant to reply to this thread but ended up creating a new thread here is my misplaced response:
K it was Sat
I walked right up to the a** hole and his orange piece of crap and took all the pics which I will scan next week and post. His buddy came up to me and said "What are ya trying to do post pics and say what an a** hole he is?" Who would have thought I was dealing with psychics? I replied with "No this is just to compliment his SKILLFULL WHEELING-sarcastically of course" that way they couldn't react and I wouldn't get my a** kicked. The real sweetie was yelling "DIE CHRISTMAS TREE DIE!" as he drove over all the bushes. He had to be in his late thirties going on three.
Yeah we were the lone tree huggers that day cause the whole group was on a day trip up the other side-Thankfully-it could have been much more ugly

I second this idea...grrrrrrrrrrr! You can always post them in the Rubicon Forum as well. Glad you said something and stood up for what is right...what a fawking bitch that guy was!:shaking: Gotta fawking love when somebody does something completely screwed up, they get called on it and then they want to kick your ass for doing the right thing?!:mad3:
twn44s 09-04-2002, 08:26 PM Boy does Holiday Weekends bring out the best or what.great job on standing up to these bunch of a**holes
withamc 09-05-2002, 11:25 AM Our club was up on Lockwood/Miller doing trail maintenance last Saturday and the rangers mentioned that someone from the El Dorado NF had alerted them to the post in this board from Whitebrowithafro a few months ago who had taken his Toyota in through Cottonwood and down through the creek. They were ready to send him a ticket, but the ranger said he hoped the members on this board would give him shit and that would have more of an impact than a $100 fine.
We're constantly blocking off bypasses when we do our maintenance runs. And the ranger was also telling us about the cement picnic tables that had been broken apart with sledgehammers. WTF?? I understand these people probably aren't the "mainstream" wheelers, but somehow we've got to get the message out to the yahoos who don't wheel very often about the effect their actions have on wheeling opportunities everywhere.

Unf*@king believable.
Since he has a POS buggy he probably isn’t concerned about closures. Send the A@@hole to TX where there isn’t any public land to wheel on.
Good going guys in trying to set him straight. Can’t wait to see the post of this A@@hole and his POS.
MilspecXJ 09-05-2002, 12:33 PM Way to be guys!!...assholes like that need someone to jump in their face and confront them.
Fawk's it up for everyone if their conduct goes undetered.

I run with the Wicked Wheelers out of Oakhurst Ca. , and this guy is NOT a member of our club:mad:
We have been around since the late 70's , first based in San Jose then moved to Oakhurst.
The Bay Area Wicked Wheelers have agreed to change their name as they did not know our club still existed. ( An old member thought they had a bright idea.)
We have heard rumors of a Nevada club but have not run across them yet. No-one in our club has a rig like the one describe here.
We do not pass out our windshield decals to anyone not officially in the club , similar to the Pirate philosopy of restricting club decals.
We agree this behavior is unacceptable and the individual should be called out on it.
Post pics if you have them.

moveaside 09-06-2002, 09:55 PM Good Job man he might have got the point better if thirty people were standing behind you but form me to you thanks for your action in stopping BS like that and not just words:beer:
