: Everlast IGBT Plasma cutters, Welders and Combo Welder deals
Everlast_Sales 04-24-2009, 03:18 PM The word is officially out. Everlast welders has switched to a new IGBT technology on all of our welders, plasma cutters and multi-function units.
Welders - http://www.everlastgenerators.com/products-category-61.html
plasma cutters - http://www.everlastgenerators.com/products-category-57.html
multi-function units - http://www.everlastgenerators.com/products-category-61.html
Why IGBT?
The Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) versus the Metal Oxide Semi-conductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) debate has been raging since the introduction of the IGBT technology in the 1980’s.
Why is this relevant to welding? Well, the issues in developing lighter weight inverter based welders, which consume less power, are surrounded by the choice of these technologies. Transistors are foundational to creating the welding arc by serving as tiny micro switches that deliver the power to the work electrode. Endless volumes of technical information have been written on the use and selection of these transistors and the suitability of each to different application. But to put it in practical terms, IGBT technology for welding applications has been shown to better handle the rigorous demands that high duty cycles welders place upon them by offering higher voltage capacities and heat tolerances than the older MOSFETs. IGBT problems of the past have been resolved thanks to new and modern manufacturing technologies.
Typically, MOSFETs are not as well equipped to handle the severe heat and voltage stress placed upon them by the industrial welding environment. While MOSFETs have proved adequate when powering lower end welding equipment, they have proved to be deficient when meeting the demands of heavy duty welding environments.
As Everlast has grown and sought to meet the ever higher expectations of its own customers, the company has wrestled with its own concerns over the use of MOSFET and IGBT technology. While MOSFET technology will still have a small place in our welder line to provide an economical alternative for the hobbyist and enthusiast, Everlast seeks to address the needs of the professional welder and the welding industry in general by offering an all new line of IGBT based welding inverters.
We have a new color coded front control panel to make used AC/DC use simpler and quicker, upgrade to new ergonomic torches and even change our cases on some units.
The website will be updated soon, but we are taking orders now. IGBT Order on the sea right now and will be shipping to all cotumers very soon
A totally new product design.
See http://www.everlastwelders.com for more details and questions.
Back in 2008 We have imported over 200 of the new IGBT MIG, TIG, MMA and Plasma cutters and had great success with them in our internal and external testing.
Feel free to PM (private message) EVERLAST for a price quote. If you have any questions PM EVERLAST_SUPPORT or send an email to our support team via our website.

Everlast_support 04-30-2009, 03:58 PM For the couple that asked for more information, and we are still updating our website.
There was an independent review on weldingweb.com of the PowerCut 60. It looks like we will see quiet a few here soon as well.
See http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?t=28935
Page 2 has pictures of the inside PlasmaPower60
Page 4 results of the test.
On the PowerCut60, we advertise a max cut of 1" but it can actually cut 1 1/4"
All of the PowerCut series units use quality Siemens made IGBT transistors and are pilot arc units.

CJHeap 05-13-2009, 06:59 AM I have a question about the plasma cutters.
The 60a shows the lightest material it will cut is 3/8
The 70a shows 1/32
Is that a typo ? Will the 60a cleanly cut lighter materials than 3/8 ?

That is a typo, sorry. On the thinner metal, a lot of body guys tell me they turn the air pressure down (35 PSI) and it will cut a lot cleaner than it will at 65+ I have not tried it myself yet with my 70 but plan too. On thinner metal, you want to use a guide and move quickly also.
Gravy 05-15-2009, 01:39 PM So I talked with Alex today and he said you'll know what was on the container by Monday. Will you email me when you know. I'm on the list and still very very interested in purchasing the power ultra 205 or the dual voltage plasma.
Also Alex said I would pay full retail then do a review then receive 50% refund after I did the review: is this correct?

Total Distorsion 06-01-2009, 11:41 PM To whomever is interested in buying an Everlast machine...
I was always a bit skeptical of overseas welding equipment. Mostly just because the reputation that comes with it. I've been in the market for a while and after countless days and weeks searching online, I couldn't find a good deal on anything used. I started looking into the overseas scene, and started doing my homework. Out of the cheaper machines out there, I decided Everlast was the way to go.
I chose them because I noticed they have been doing there homework as well. To me they have better plasma, and tig torches, which is a big deal and consumables are easy to get. Also the processors are better. Anyway you can read about that stuff on their website. I'm trying to toot anyone's horn.
I'm here to show you my real world experience. I opted for the power master 205. It's a 3 in 1 machine. Working out of the garage, this thing will save a bunch of space.
Here is some pix when I got it...
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/5237/welding036.jpg (http://img171.imageshack.us/my.php?image=welding036.jpg)

Some with the cover off. Not like I know what any of that does!

http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/864/welding033.jpg (http://img395.imageshack.us/my.php?image=welding033.jpg)
Here's a shot of the plasma and tig torches. I left out the ''stick weld'' holder, cause I figured no one wants to see that.
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/8151/welding030.jpg (http://img230.imageshack.us/my.php?image=welding030.jpg)
http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/8008/welding041.jpg (http://img211.imageshack.us/my.php?image=welding041.jpg)
Ok. So try not to ride me too much. I haven't tig welded in a couple of years, I've been hella sick for the past 2 weeks and I still need to dial in the settings, plus I just need to practice. Now I can!
1/8'' mild steel
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/4082/welding015.jpg (http://img134.imageshack.us/my.php?image=welding015.jpg)

3/16'' aluminum
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/6263/welding023.jpg (http://img301.imageshack.us/my.php?image=welding023.jpg)
Total Distorsion 06-01-2009, 11:42 PM Here's a couple of the plasma. 1st is 1/8'' tube with 35amps. 2nd is a coil spring( it's all i had laying around) 3/4'' thick 50amps(max) air @ 60-65psi
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/3639/welding029.jpg (http://img301.imageshack.us/my.php?image=welding029.jpg)
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/4066/welding025.jpg (http://img140.imageshack.us/my.php?image=welding025.jpg)
So all in all I'm happy with it thus far. I work out of my garage and will be sufficient to do what I need to do. When I move out of the garage then a may consider getting bigger separate machines. Even then, I mostly work with metal up to 1/4'' sometimes 3/8'' and rarely anything bigger so this machine will be good for me for many years to come.
I hope this helps someone somehow.

avocadojp 06-13-2009, 11:21 AM OK, I finally got some time to play with my new 250 EX.
The Box arrived quickly and in good condition.
On paper the specs are impressive. 250 amp AC/DC, pulsed, pre and post flow adjustment, AC balance control and a bunch of other stuff you may or may not need.
Fit and finish seems pretty good. The nobs move smoothly with the exception of the main current control, it makes a scratching noise as it is turned. The pedal looks and feels sturdy. The Ground clamp is heavy duty.
Something I didn't see mentioned elsewhere is that this has a water cooled torch.
I decided to take a look under the hood
Everything inside looked OK, except for the top plate that was bent into a taco shape:mad3:. It appears that somewhere between China and Colorado my welder was dropped. If you look in the pictures you can see where the row of transformers on top is bent into the big white circuit breaker (with wires pinned in between). So now I either need to bend the bracket up so the transformer is not touching the breaker or send the welder back. Both options suck, but I will let you know how Everlast handles it.

Cobraphx 06-30-2009, 08:24 PM I've had a Longevity Super 160P for over a year now, and I finally decided to upgrade to a better unit. I decided to bite on the PowerMaster 205 Pirate deal. It looks like a great machine, and I think the move to IGBT is a very good one.
Due to the Holiday, I'm not sure when I'll get it. When is gets here it, I'll post some some pics and my impressions. I'll make some comparisons to the Miller 25amp Spectrum Plasma cutter I've got in the garage right now. It should be interesting, the Miller is a nice little unit for thin stuff.

Everlast_support 07-03-2009, 07:36 AM I had some questions about the differences between the ultra 205 and the power one (this will be my first welder purchase ever)
The Power Ultra 205 unit is a DC TIG with pulse and a built-in 50 amp plasma cutter. So you can do steel and stainless steel, just no aluminum unless you use the stick operation.
Which other Power model were you looking at?

Gravy 07-16-2009, 10:11 AM I bought a power plasma 50 a few weeks back and I've been very impressed so far. I've only test cut up to 3/4" but it handled it quite well.
It seems I'm going through tips faster than I thought I would, but I haven't owned a plasma before so I can't say for certain if that's normal or not.
The unit came packaged well and arrived on time. I did have to wire up a plug since no plug came with the unit.
I've yet to try it on 110v but it works great at 220.
It seems like if the tip is worn at all or the air pressure is off even a little it just won't cut at all. More than likely though, I just need to practice my technique.
it makes nice clean cuts and the Kerf is quite thin with the power adjusted right.

Everlast_support 07-16-2009, 03:31 PM Gravy,
Glad you like the cutter. And good to have a helper too. Better if you can get her to do all the cutting for you.
It will take a little time to get used to cutting. I went though a few in a short time when I started as well. Try not to drag the tip, also with the thinner steel you can run the air a lower than what the manual recommends, but it looks by your cuts you are fine.
I will check with our sales team to see if we still have the post-for-consumables promotion running. Where if you post and put up pictures we send some free consumables.
MaxxPehling 07-16-2009, 11:45 PM so we got our 205 in. Was sent out and recieved promptly :smokin:
Been sitting on it for about a week getting some things taken care of but got it wired up today. I havent been on a tig machine since last October and my buddy corey hasnt since November, so forgive the lack of perfect dimes, we need a days welding under our belts. Still working on getting settings dialed in for what we are working with
Got the machine on a temporary cart, it will get its own when we are done with the boat

I was looking around for some stainless and found some leftover dolphin I made last year for a fence at a resort, they still had a rouch plas edge on them so I just went and fused the outside edge
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b273/maxxpehling/Everlast/w2.jpg
First Impressions:
-Machine was a little noisy upon first startup, and I soon realized it has a goliath fan on the back, I am in no wya worried about the noise and love knowing the machine will stay cool
-Machine worked great, all settings adjust with precision and seem to be accurate
-Tig/Stick/Plas handles are all very ergonomic and are a little bigger then a typical torch, which I like as I have pretty big hands. Obviously you can use another torch but I found these to be perfect.
After some tig fun I decided to throw some air at it and hook the plas up. Had some 3/16 steel plate handy so we threw some juice at it. I must say, honestly this is probably the nicest plasma cutter I have ever used. Very steady arc, Very thin cut, and left and absolutly awesome edge. A lot of the machines I have used have required ideal settings per material but I turned the power way down and way up, and with added speed it was very very forgiving, I didn't have any jaged edges whatsoever.
Like I said, these are all initial impressions, and so far I am beyond impressed. expect a full review after I get some time on this
Everlast_Sales 07-17-2009, 12:59 PM We have SuperCut 50 on sale all next week

captron 07-22-2009, 01:48 PM I have been reading with interest all the posts here and they helped me made up my mind. Last night I called Alex at Everlast. He sounds like a nice guy and easy to talk with. The bad news is that I am poorer than I was yesterday.
The great news is I can't wait till my new PowerTig 250EX and, and, and, (is there a echo in here? sorry my excitement got to me,) my new
Power Plasma 50. These are not my first welder/plasma machines out of the far East, which is another story. However they will be my first IGBT machines, which I am look forward to trying out.
I also found it hard to believe that Alex (Everlast) gives such great pricing to Pirate4x4.com members. Therefore I am not as poor as I expected to be. More good mews.
Thanks Alex :)
Everlast_Sales 07-22-2009, 01:53 PM Hey Captain Ron
Thank you for the order your units ready to go and will be picked up after 5pm pst by UPS.. Sorry to hear about your two DOA from other importer ! I guess they don't test every unit like they claim !
cabletech 07-22-2009, 06:33 PM I'd be curious to hear how the PowerTig 250EX does on thin stainless - I need to weld some .050" stainless parts, and some moderate (1/8") aluminum parts, and am shopping for a TIG welder right now. I like how the 250EX "appears" to be rather controllable due to all of the knobs and settings. I've searched the internet for customer comments, have seen a few here and on Weldingweb, but maybe since it's so new there's not a lot out there yet.
Got any crazy deals on scratch and dent 250EX? :grinpimp:

Looking good.

Happy welding.
trukinjp13 07-24-2009, 11:44 AM will it cut thinner steel well? Or will it just blow it apart?
singlesupra 07-25-2009, 12:28 AM After spending all my money to buy all the machines necessary to open a one man fab/machine shop I have been researching and looking for deals for quite some time on used welders/plasma cutters. While I could find "decent" deals I honestly was just all tapped out and buying an item such as a welder/plasma cutter was something I really did not want to be without a warranty. Low and behold I run across a link to Everlast. Being skeptical at the price I have been doing a lot of research on them and there reviews have been great.
Its so nice to have a wallet friendly high quality alternative! To find a quality new machine with a warranty for CHEAPER than a well used welder with no warranty is worth its weight in gold!
Ordered a PowerMaster205 today! Cant wait to get it!
Cobraphx 07-25-2009, 12:34 PM I received my PowerMaster 205 - IGBT AC/DC Tig, Stick, Plasma machine a week or so ago. I've owned a Longevity Super 160P for a bit over a year and now. For my money, the PowereMaster 205 is a much better machine. Thought I'd share some pics, no Tig pictures yet, I need some more practice before I'll post those.
So, here's how it looked coming off the UPS truck:
http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu135/Cobraphx/P1010027.jpg
And out of the box on the Harbor freight welding cart:
http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu135/Cobraphx/P1010029.jpg
The accessory box as it looks when removed from the shipping box:
http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu135/Cobraphx/P1010031.jpg
The 205 without the protective bag:
http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu135/Cobraphx/P1010030.jpg
All the accessories laid out, everything you need but air and Argon:http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu135/Cobraphx/P1010032.jpg
Now a bit closer look at the attachments compared to what came with the Longevity Super 160P in late 2007 and the Miller 375 X-treme plasma cutter.
First the plasma handles; left to right, 205 - 375 - 160P:http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu135/Cobraphx/P1010033.jpgGuess which one I like the best. It's pretty close between the Miller and the 205, but I like the narrower tip of the 205 better.
TIG torches; 205 - 160P:
http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu135/Cobraphx/P1010034.jpgThe 205 has a swivel between the handle and the hose which is very nice.
Welding rod holders:
http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu135/Cobraphx/P1010035.jpg
No comparison, the 205 holder is very nice and a lot more ergonomic.
When I get the Super 160 P back I'll post some pictures of the unit for comparison.

That's kind of funny I have the same welder on the same cart!
I had it for a few months now and is still holding up. The only real issue I have is the ground cable is too short. If it were another 2ft. longer or so, that would be sweet. Also the plasma tips seem to be ok, as far as how long they last. I try to match the amps to the piece I'm cutting to try to make the tips last a little longer. I'm need of some more.

singlesupra 07-30-2009, 03:16 PM Called alex back the other day and had him upgrade me to a powermaster226 after reading more and more reviews. I can not wait to get this bad boy. Will update with lots of pictures as soon as I can.
I got my PowerUltra 205 about 2 weeks ago and just got the tig going the other day. I've been using it to build a buggy and I gotta say I'm super impressed. This thing is solid and is working very well at all processes. I'm still sucking at tig but it's my first one and it's been very handy still. Just finished welding up the exhaust with it.
Cuts are clean and easy with pilotarc. MMA welds lay down great and there's lots of power there and tig seems to work great as well.. I'm just a newb at it (but I've done lots of oxy-acet welding so it's not terribly bad).
I got this unit on warranty because my ct520d died that I had bought from everlast prior. Their staff was great at dealing with the exchange and very kind to give me a whole new unit. So, we know they stand behind their warranty!
You can tell this unit is way better than the ct520d. The accessories are better too. It even weighs more (bigger heat sinks maybe?).
targa3859 08-01-2009, 04:51 PM here's a pics of my new plasma cutter.
http://i25.tinypic.com/2vt8kqv.jpg
I bought a used cut 60 unit from Everlast and had an issue with it. I called and talked to Alex he told to send my unit back to them, within 5 days I had a brand new unit back to my door. I don't think I will ever push the limits of this cutter. Here are some pics of some brackets that I no longer used on the rear axel they are .25" thick it cut thru them like butter. I also cut a sheet of galv for a surface to store the cutter on. It cut just as fast as I could drag the torch across the surface
http://i31.tinypic.com/4ifsj8.jpg
so far I am very impressed with the unit

The new IGBT TIG and MIG line and their torches allow a simple trip to the local welding supply for consumables. Even Harbor Freight carries the consumables for the MIG and Plasma cutters. So basically you can buy all you consumables locally if you have a LWS near by or a HF. Our prices will still be better but we must ship them.
Glad you like the new unit. Give it a good workout. Far as the O/A, TIG should be really easy for you. I would not bother with MIG if not for the speed on big projects.
Post up some pictures, also join our forum and register your unit at http://www.everlastwelders.com/forums/index.php
Everlast_support 08-03-2009, 03:56 PM Targa3859,
We are glad you are impressed with the new PowerPlasma 60.
Don't forget to register your unit.
CJHeap 08-04-2009, 11:38 AM I bought the Power Plasma 60A unit a month ago and after dealing with a SNAFU with UPS losing the first Unit, received the green monster. This is a great unit and a huge upgrade from my old 1 gen 20 amp plasma. Everything was packed well and the only thing not included was the plug for the power cord. A trip to Northern Tool and $20 later and everything was ready to burn.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d132/yellorover/PP%2060/P1020353.jpg
Here are some pics of me setting up the unit to try it out. Just scraps to get the hang of this new machine and to play with the settings:
First is a piece of clean 3/16 in steel. I fired up the system and left the setting where they were from the factory testing ( 38 amp @ 35 psi ). This is the first unit I have used with the pilot arc and it is nice. Free hand playing with the cut speed. Clean cut with a bit of slag due to user method.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d132/yellorover/PP%2060/P1020352-1.jpg
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d132/yellorover/PP%2060/P1020354.jpg
Next was a crusty piece of 1/4 in steel out of my scrap pile behind the garage. I did not even brush off the rust. I left the settings at 38 amp and 35 psi for this one also since it did such a good job before. I was not disappointed as the torch sliced through the steel like it was not even there.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d132/yellorover/PP%2060/P1020355.jpg
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d132/yellorover/PP%2060/P1020356.jpg
Felling pretty ambitious, I pulled out a 1.25 inch thick steel shackle mount I had made but not used. I originally cut these out on a Buddy's industrial CNC plasma table. Talk about an easy way to build parts :grinpimp: . Anyhow, I cranked up the Plasma to 60 amp and the air to 48 psi. Hit the switch and gave it a try. The torch blew through the first 1 inch like it was not there. I tilted the torch a bit to clear the cut and took it slow. My freehand method leaves a bit to be desired but the sever cut was good. This is material that I will not be working with in my garage, I just wanted to try it out and was pleasantly surprised.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d132/yellorover/PP%2060/P1020357.jpg
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d132/yellorover/PP%2060/P1020358.jpg
Next, I pulled out an old heavy bumper that needed to have the ends cut off of the pipe. It cut the 1/4 in thick pipe like butter. This was a crusty old work truck unit that had been laying behind my garage for a couple of years. No clean up at all, just burned it apart.
Then I pulled out a 14B axle that I was prepping for installation in my jeep and made short work out of trimming off the stock brackets. Nice and clean leaving minimal grinding for final finishing. This was so much easier than my old method of cutting disks in the angle grinder.
I am going to build a mount for this torch to run on my Koike IK600 CNC cutting table that is currently running a torch. It should work great on the 3/8 in plate I run through it currently.
BTW, Alex was great to deal with through the UPS foul up and got me a replacement machine sent out ASAP.
Everlast_support 08-04-2009, 05:13 PM CJHeep,
As mentioned on our forum earlier today, but I will mention it here as well so other will also know. You want to use 60-65 PSI with your unit. 35 PSI is OK for very thin metal. You'll get less striations on the thicker metal with the higher pressure.
Thanks for the post and pictures.

Since the P4x4 people get a really good discount. If we have any overstock items, maybe run a better price to lean them out here.
I like the new panels, not sure if this shipment will have them. But they look nice.
Also see our forum, there was a fellow that wanted a price on a water cooler.
singlesupra 08-07-2009, 03:07 AM Could one of you do me a favor and PM me a tracking number for my powermaster226? I forgot all about closing my email account that is linked to my paypal. Thanks, and the paypal is slither@adelphia.net
singlesupra 08-07-2009, 12:54 PM Damn, scratch that! Somehow you guys got a welder from cali to the other coast in Virginia in record time! Just a quick glance and the box and welder itself seem to be unharmed in shipping, thats allways a plus. Going to try to get some time tonight to mess with it for a few. Was packaged great as well
Thanks again guys, the price, shipping, communication has been top notch!

singlesupra 08-07-2009, 04:54 PM Thanks buddy, Ill be sure to do that. By any chance do you know the breaker size and wiring I should use for the powermaster 226? Its about a 35' run. If you dont happen to know, Ill ask the everlast forum. Thanks again man, top notch service!
avocadojp 08-07-2009, 05:38 PM This is an update from my post on page 3
Everlast took care of my welder that UPS damaged.
They shipped me a new one ASAP (the new package was wrapped in like 4 layers of bubble wrap) and were very easy to work with.
I have a question about hooking up the water-cooled torch.
Usually the hoses are red and blue, but the coolant hoses on the 250Ex torch are both black (although one side looks like it has some extra fiber reinforcement). So, how should I hook this up? Also, what pressure do you guys recommend for the cooler. I think 50 psi is pretty standard for TIG, but you never know.
Thanks again Everlast,
JP

It's just under 40 amps. I would install a 50 amp breaker and use #6 wire. So you have room for other tools. The cost is not much more. But a 40 amp will do the job.

JP,
The drain (water out) is the hose that comes out of the side of the quick connect that plugs into the front of the welder.
The fiber wrapped black hose is the water inlet from the cooler.
The other smooth black hose from the torch is gas in.
Sorry for the delay. Join our forum at http://www.everlastwelders.com as we tech guys are there on and off all day.

Maxx,
The website seems to change daily. Sorry about that.
The filters are pretty nice. Check our forum (where Cabletech linked). I think we have info on there and there's a youtube on "Everlast Helmets" as well. YouTube - Everlast Power Vision Welding Helmet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KQ8OJha6vE)
Pricing coming soon.

yeah I got some info/pictures on them. looks like decent hoods, might have to pick one up as a backup.
the 5052's nice for doing stuff on lower grade aluminum, its alot more forgiving then some of the higher grade alloy grades, like 6061/7075. worked perfect for my application

Maxx,
Got two helmet today to test (Dual and quad sensor model). They are very nice. Light, matching my welders too.
I received the ones with the digital LCD and touch button. Very clear, will be using them today or tomorrow, once I get off my lazy tail and get going. Still have some cutting to do, but might go right to the TIG. :D
MaxxPehling 09-20-2009, 05:26 PM yeah curious to see how they work for you.
I'll never go back to a dual sensor again, Ive never been flashed with a quad sensor even being in some weird places.

I'll never go back to a dual sensor again, Ive never been flashed with a quad sensor even being in some weird places.
The clarity is fantastic. I use the quad, works great. Had to turn it to the minimum sensitivity since I was in direct sunlight. My son used the dual. I did not try it.
I am very pleased. I did not flip the filter, might try that today. I thought it was fine, but a friend said flip it and try it, he flipped his. I dropped the quad on cement (not on purpose and it was gonna happen sooner or later). No damage at all, not even a mark on the plastic. Will keep you posted, but the quad has my vote for sure.

This model has a DC pulse off (for straight DC) and does arc welding as well So you can use it with no gas or regulator right when you get it. If you are used to stick welding.
Later as you get into the TIG, you'll find it is really not that hard. And our support forum/staff will help you as well, just ask what is recommended to get you started on a project. Have you looked at the DX model?

Good question.
The Everlast specials here on Pirate4x4 so far apply to sales in the US only. We do ship internationally off our website and other channels.
With the shipping costs outside of the US (to Canada, etc), customs and brokerage fees, I'm sure you understand how we cannot offer free shipping and a discount?
It's Sunday and after a lot of leg work.
If you call 905-603-8246 (looks like a local call for you) and ask for Duncan, tell him you're a Pirate4x4 member located in Canada, tell him Mike in tech support had you call.
He said he will offer a discount on Everlast products for all Pirate4x4 people in Canada.

and yes we will honour most discounts on models to Canadian Customers.
However please keep in mind some of our models are priced lower than our US office when you figure in the exchange rate

You are welcome to drop a line or call to discuss any machine that you may be interested in

The 205 is probably our hottest seller. The 200 amps of TIG is a lot of power, and with a second pass you can weld farm equipment with it. The added ARC welding is nice too when you're out of argon.
What are you plans with the unit far as cutting?
If the Plasma cutter is justifying your purchase of the combo TIG unit, the 226 will get you a 60 amp plasma cutter. If you plan to cut 1/2" or less most of the time, the 205 is all you need.
Smn2k7 10-08-2009, 10:44 PM Been looking at the Powertig units after reading a lot of the good reviews for Everlast here on Pirate.
Anyway, just trying to figure the differences between the 200DX and 200LX models, looking at the units side-by-side I'm not noticing much difference, besides the up-slope capability on the LX Perhaps someone here could enlighten me. Also, I'm assuming these units are touch start and do not include High Frequency Start, or am I just missing that in the descriptions as well?
Thanks,
Sean

Sean,
Check the duty cycle. The LX is 60% at 200amps, the DX is 35% at 200 amps. They are both HF start and the LX has an up-slope.
Hope that helps.
Smn2k7 10-09-2009, 08:47 AM Looks like I'll be signing on for a 200LX then as soon as I get some "toy" money saved up again. Thanks for pointing that out, I completely missed the difference in duty cycle while looking at the two.

Sean,
My personal TIG is the PowerTIG 250LX. You'll like the 200LX. The 250 is a bit of overkill for me, but I work for Everlast and get discounts. I have not needed more than 180 amps yet. If you do thick aluminum, the 250 would have a little edge.
MaxxPehling 10-09-2009, 10:59 PM This was some 3/8 with a 205. I know its a bit different, but still had plenty of power.

Everlast_support 10-11-2009, 07:01 AM Maxx,
Update on the new Everlast helmets. I tested the 4/9-15 shade helmets with 2 and 4 sensors. My son took the dual sensor helmet. Performance was great. Very clear view. I parked the other helmets.
Probably more than I will wear for something that requires a 4, but it is nice to have. I did do some O/A Friday with it just to play.
Rocky AK,
Sorry I just got your PM, hope you got someone in sales to get you a price on the Power Plasma 80. They set the prices, I am in tech support. I will PM our toll free number and you can ask for ext 201. Mention p4x4 when you call.
MaxxPehling 10-12-2009, 09:50 AM good deal mike, I need to get my hands on one :smokin:
Smn2k7 10-12-2009, 12:01 PM Maxx,
Thanks for posting that up.That's with their Powermaster 205 unit I presume?
Looks like the unit does a good job, and with the thickness you were welding, my requirements look like they'll be met easily by the Powertig 200lx unit.
I really need to get my extra toy money saved up :)
MaxxPehling 10-12-2009, 12:20 PM yes that was a 205.
Not sure how you are equipped now, but I would recommend getting a multi unit. The TIG specs are very similar, and it has a 50 amp plasma cutter built in. It only bumps the price up $200. You are never going to find a 50 amp plasma for anywhere near that price.
I think Ive stated it before, but I was blown away by how well the plasma worked. I prefered using it over the hypotherm unit we had at my old shop and a few others Ive used.

Everlast_support 10-13-2009, 06:17 PM with the PowerMaster 164? vs the 205? Thanks
It depends on the person doing the welding. 200 amps will do 1/2" steel, figure 30% less for aluminum.
But you can do a second pass and do thicker?
Can you post more details, like what are you planning to weld?
Everlast_Sales 10-13-2009, 07:41 PM Here's a look at the changes we've made to the current line-up. We have a couple more we will post here later. But for now. PM or post if you have questions. We have added a few features.

The PowerMaster 205 will handle that with no problem. If you don't need the plasma cutter, the PowerTIG series is a great product too. But for a little more, you get a cutter with the PowerMaster line.

Hello Paul

Smn2k7 10-14-2009, 11:13 PM Maxx,
Appreciate your input, Don't really know that I'll need a plasma cutter, I don't really have the air supply for it at the moment. I'm mainly looking for a good quality, affordable tig unit to do quality welds with stainless and aluminum.
And to the Everlast Reps.,
Does that first picture of the new units say Powertig 225lx? Is that a completely new unit? Just wondering what the specs are if indeed that is what it is. I'm looking to purchase by mid-november, so, I apologize for all the question asking. Just trying to see what funds im going to need to get lined up.
Everlast_support 10-15-2009, 09:07 AM Smn2K7,
That is the 225LX. It is the complete welder minus the torch, ground, etc.
I do not have all the specs on that unit. Like like at 225amp AC/DC TIG/Arc welder. The 250LX I have is a 250 AC/DC TIC/Arc welder.
Everlast_support 10-15-2009, 04:16 PM Smn2K7,
Forgot to mention. You'll need a bottle of argon and some electrodes to use the TIG portion of the welder. We don't provide those but you can pick them up at your local welding supplier. If you have arc welding rods (6011, 6013, 7018, etc) you can use the unit the day you receive it.
When you call in to order the a welder, make sure you check to see if the argon regulator and a foot pedal are included. Some units do not include them.
As a pirate4x4 member, I'm sure the sale office will make a great deal.
The 225LX units are not in stock yet, so you have some time to save. But we should have them in the next two weeks.
MaxxPehling 10-15-2009, 07:00 PM Maxx,
Appreciate your input, Don't really know that I'll need a plasma cutter, I don't really have the air supply for it at the moment. I'm mainly looking for a good quality, affordable tig unit to do quality welds with stainless and aluminum.
totally understand. Just one of those things where if you forsee needing it in the future, very much worth it.
Ive done quite a bit of work with 6061 alu. so far, everything between 16g and 3/8" and the 205 has worked awesome.
I have done some stainless work but nearly as much, the unit has worked great as well.
In redgards to a bottle, there are a few things to ask.
1. How much and how often will you be using your tig?
2. will the unit sit in your workshop, and NEVER move. Will it Move Occasionally. Will you tug it everywhere you go to work?
The bigger the tank you buy the less they will cost to fill. I find like a 120cf to be a happy medium. Last quite a while for a hobbyit, not bad on a fill ~$25 or so, and is somewhat portable, (meaning you can physically load it by yourself :mr-t:)
a 60-80 cf is a good bottle if youre going to be taking it to friends and stuff a lot.
something like a 220-250 is best if you use a lot of gas and it stays at home. You get a good savings on fills, and its nice having it last longer.
Like I said, I would reccomend something like a 120-150. Can be had for less then $200 filled.
Get yourself a nice selection of tungsten and filler rod. For Stainless you typically want to use 2%thoriated Tungsten (has red tips). For aluminum you'll want pure tungsten (has green tips)
Talk to your supplier about different rod, you'll wan to try and match your filler material alloy and your metal alloy.
Everlast_support 10-16-2009, 08:22 AM Smn2k7,
Maxx is right on the tank sizes. I have a 150, about all you want to put in the truck. However, on inverter welders, 2% red tips will do steel and aluminum just fine.
DOUG38S 10-16-2009, 01:43 PM Here's to my boys @ Everlast. Glad to be on board with you guys and looking forward to bringing you guys a win in the near future!

Smn2k7 10-16-2009, 09:30 PM I do really appreciate your input Maxx. It's been very helpful in making my decisions. Throwing around over a grand after putting the down payment on a house is a pretty big purchase, as far as im concerned, so I'm trying to do a good bit of research. Thanks also to Everlast, the knowledge and support you guys offer is pretty awesome, and I haven't even made my purchase yet. Makes me feel good about the company to say the least.
I was actually going to be asking around about bottle sizing before too long. My experience with TIG has been mostly in a classroom environment, so, as far as what size a bottle I would need at home I really didn't quite know yet. The plan is to keep it in the garage always, but being portable if necessary is a definite plus, so I'll probably go with your recommendation for something around 120cf and only move it if necessary.
I'm glad you decided to offer your personal recommendations, and offer more reassurance as to the ability of these everlast product. I'm really looking forward to making this purchase.
Sorry for the large post.
And thanks again guys, I really appreciate it.

Everlast_support 10-17-2009, 07:04 AM Doug,
With the determination of the Bigelow Motorsports team and the Everlast Power Equipment team, it is a win-win.
We're glad to be on-board. Looking forward to a great King of the Hammers race season and future seasons.
Anyway we can help let us know.
Everlast_support 10-17-2009, 07:15 AM Thanks also to Everlast, the knowledge and support you guys offer is pretty awesome, and I haven't even made my purchase yet. Makes me feel good about the company to say the least.

Sean,
You're quite welcome. Maxx is right on the bottle size, it's a good starting size and probably all you'll need.
Feel free to join our forum before you purchase and check out our support as well. We have welding great performance tips and answer general questions all the time. This way you'll have a heads up on a lot of things before you receive your welder.
FSJMike 10-18-2009, 09:55 AM Could you quote a 40 and 50 amp plasma cutter to 44212?
Thanks!

Shawnxj,
Thanks for the feedback on the Power Ultra 205. Hope the relocation is for the good. Sales will send you a PM tomorrow on the prices.
The Power IMIG205 can handle a larger spool "inside" the unit. The MIG200 has an inline (external) feeder. The specs on duty cycle can be found on our website at everlastwelders.com . The MIG200 will be easier to take on the road but you are limited on the size of the spool. Both are nice units. Nozzles and contract tips can be picked up at most local welding suppliers.

I'll have to check it out. We are always updating our website (and web, not weld, people work on that part). Sorry about that.
I own the PowerIMIG 205 personally (and a TIG, O/A and Plasma).
This unit is a 220 amp DC MIG welder, it has an internal feeder and can handle larger spools as they are inside the unit. It comes with a flipable wire guide and contact tips to handle .030 and .035. It has arcforce control which is nice as it will stick weld too. Consumables can be picked up at a local welding supplier or from us.
It works with flux or gas, I would only use gas myself (Argon/co2 mix).
It also comes with a stinger so you can weld day one if you have some rod around. If you want to PM me a number I can call you and answer any questions, or just post them here.

Everlast_support 10-23-2009, 06:51 AM you also told me Hello ChrisPy
im not sure if this is a warning, or a feature... please explain.. i understand the difference between IGBT and MOSFET from reading your papers, but, are you saying this is not as good?
I want to order a plasma cutter friday morning. I don't currently know how to TIG, but if its only a couple hundred dollars difference, why not get a unit that can do it.. and learn, right?
thanks for your response...
in order to make the buying decision, I need accurate information from the vendor.. you..
please let me know.
We went from MOSFET to IGBT back in November 08 (prior to that actually). It is a better product for us and we kept the prices in the same range. We still sell two MOSFET products. Our new IGBT units have better heat transfer and welding control.
So this is a feature for sure.
Oleg will have to quote you on the units as I know Pirate4x4 people get a discount and I am not in sales and can only send you to our website. But I am sure he will PM you today.
TIG welding would be a major plus for a small price difference. Stick and MIG are good and faster, but TIG, you have to see it. Very clean and precise welding.
zidaro 10-23-2009, 08:00 AM I have not received a quote I pm requested either.
Price on a powermaster 205 please.

ChrisPy 10-23-2009, 12:02 PM thank you for talking to me today, mike.. its nice to talk to a vendor who understands and uses the product, and not just someone selling boxes.i do feel that most vendors on pirate are better educated than some of my local guys. im calling now to place my order....

Nice talking to you. You have my direct number if you have any questions.
Sounds like an early Christmas for you.
nooch8it 10-24-2009, 09:34 AM So the new units are in stock now?????? I have been waiting for 6 months.
Everlast_support 10-24-2009, 04:17 PM So the new units are in stock now?????? I have been waiting for 6 months.
I do not believe the new shipment is in yet.
What welder did you order 6 months ago? We ship units everyday and if you are waiting on a new design/model, it can not possibly be 6 months ago? Do you mean 6 weeks?
nooch8it 10-25-2009, 12:04 PM No I was told it would be worth my time/$ to wait on the new units. I have not placed the order yet because I'm waiting for the new shipment. I think its more like 4 months but it feels like 6 I'm very eager to get one of your welders(powermaster 205).

Ahh, OK. That make a little more sense. Hang in there, Alex in sales always takes care of the customers.
They are on the way. An error on labeling delayed the order. I too am waiting to test what might replace my personal PowerTIG 250LX. I used it all weekend with my son stick after we killed off the argon. Not sure I would part with it though.
Mike will you be at the Fabtech show in Chicago on Nov 15?
I noticed Everlast has a booth.
I'm looking for a PowerMaster 226 and want to add my own spool gun. Has anyone done this?
I've modded about 4 welders not intended for a spoolgun and they worked GREAT.
Do you have access to the internal electrical circuits?
Can't wait to put the unit to the test after you shoot me the Pirate 4X4 discount!!!!!!
Thanks
dwdw

I will not be at the show, timing issues. Wish I could be. Maybe next year.
Looks like a nice show.
I think we have three people there. Ask for Mark, he's very sharp. He can help you out or give you my direct number or PM me your number and I can give you a call.
Maybe Mark will bring a laptop and get wireless and fire up Skype. I did not talk to him today (probably real busy getting real for the show), but that would be funny. At least I could see the show from our booth.

Looks like it is an option from our website. Not sure, just doing a tech support check in.
Call in at 650-588-8082 or 877-755-WELD and ask for Alex in sales (ext 201) and tell him you're a Pirate4x4 member, sure he will make it happen. Or PM Everlast_sales here.
FSJMike 10-26-2009, 09:15 PM Please put me on the list for a PowerUltra 205 when they get here!
Thanks!

Thanks Maxx. In tech support I have no idea as we change the packages. And the website group is always changing the site. When I checked it, it looked like an option.
Figure better to tell them mention P4x4 and the discount and tell them ask about the options. I know sales will include it then.

Hey Chris. I might ask for a favor. My kid is into mud. He likes Jeeps and no clue about them, a Ford guy.
I know 4 wheels pulling and the right tires work for local fun.
You have a question on the welder call me. I might PM you about mud?
MaxxPehling 10-28-2009, 02:04 AM I gotta say mike, granted the opportunity, I might just slap your website crew haha.
But if you're going to make a purchase, Give alex a call for sure. He gives the deals :D
