I know this is pretty elementary, but I'm working on a motor that may have the plug wires on wrong, and I don't have any info for the correct firing order. There is a "1" stamped on the new dist. cap I bought, and there's a "2" stamped near the plug on the side of the head (2nd plug up from the rear of the motor). Other than that, I'm shooting blind. And yes, I did a search - several different attempts. All I could get was the color of wires for a fuel injected 4.0, and the some info about a 93 4cyl.
Anybody have the info handy? Thanks.

should be on your intake manifold if its the original. and ignore the 2, number one is in front. i should know this by heart, but blood has clouded my alcohol system and alas i cant remember right now. i'd go check, but my jeep is not here right now.

Okay, anyone else? I'm tryin' to get this done tonight - trying to eliminate the possibilities for a bad running engine.

this also helps once you get it idleing (http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/electrical/jn-ignition99/)

Hey, thanks again. This is a fresh motor, and if I can get it running half-way, I'm thinking of chunking all the "stuff" and putting the howell kit on. We'll see how it all goes.
The info on the web page link you posted is helpful.

Well, it's idling, and that's a generous description. There are so many vacuum hoses - there should be a federal law against it, oh yea, it's the federal law that put them there.
Well, it's hot, I'm tired, and tomorrow's another day.
Thanks again for the info guys.

The easy way to remember the firing order of ANY straight six:
15 = Too young
36 = Too old
24 = Just right:flipoff2:
