: V2R entry fees.....Are we Sportsman or do we have a "Class"

yield2me

The reason I ask is because on the entry form it says:

Professional classes-$2100

Sportsman Classes-$800....but I could of swore J/D said it was around $1250 for our KOH class.

There is also no class 4400 on the entry form so we cirlce "1800 Open Sportsman" ...Correct??

BTW--Application of intent sent off today!:flipoff2:

There was supposed to be a change to the app of intent, and the entry form on Friday to include the "Ultra 4" 4400 class on them, and show what the class's actual entry fee will be.

give BITD a day or two and it'll all be posted. at least that's a "rumor" i heard :flipoff2:

Yup, just got off of the phone with them. She said they will have the form up by the end of the day. Entry fee is $800 plus 50 for membership, plus 25 for each rider, plus 625 for Iritrack, plus RV, plus fuel, plus, plus, plus!!![/I]

Should be a damn good time. I hope we can pull a finish....I am pretty sick of DNF's.

Which is still better than $3000 that you'd be paying if we were in the pro classes

RV, Hotels, Beer, Food for 7 days-$1000
Diesel fuel-$1500
Entry fee and Iritrack-$2000

Hanging out with the Desert Racers in the hottest month of the year in the middle of the desert, and racing in a rockcrawler I built in my garage based off of a Suzuki Samuari with long distances and speed not in mind, and traveling 2000 miles one way with 3 of my buddies I con'd into doing this with me- PRICELESS!!!

FYI-The main thing that sold us on this whole race is that BITD seems to really want us to finish. They allow chasing, if you need to work on the car more than the hour they give you, you can continue after you "start" the next day, and you can skip a day and take a time addition. I did read all of this, correct?

by chasing, they mean pit to pit. they do not allow you on course between pit's. it's all you to get from pit to pit. unless a racer who is behind you is willing to throw part's out the window at you as they go by.

This is off the newsletter...

Amount of Support Crews Needed – You will be able to chase the TSCO “Vegas to Reno” The Long Way!!! with TWO (2) support trucks! Yes, you read it right, TWO (2) support trucks, with the exception of Day 3, there is one stationary pit, and three (3) trucks would be beneficial. Pitting will be very easy for your support crews!

yes, but you cannot have those chase trucks on course.

You need two so that you can effectively 'hop scotch' the pits.

Your racecar will beat get to the next pit faster than the crew, so you can't have one chase truck.

BITD forwarded us the Ultra4 application. I will post a link as soon as it's up.

Isn't 4400 a pro class? It says this on the form: Professional Classes: Total Fee = $800 (Entry Fee $400, Land Recovery Fee $200, Land Use $200)
(No Payback - No Points)

We are our own stand alone pro-class. What I was referring to is the fact that we're paying 'sportsman' entry fees.

And there is no pay out in 4400. Ditched the payout in order to make the entry fee more affordable. Its a one time shot, but we will work on the series entry fee's for 2010. Someone might be able to add Ultra 4 series champ to a resume in the near future.

This just struck me as odd. We can race their series in our own class, but they can't race our anual event in theirs?

Jeff got a class for us, kinda. But if the desert crowd wants in, they have to build something unlike what they have, and qualify in another venue??? to compete in ours?

Any sense?

We compete in "their" race in our crawlers, but disallow them to qualify for our race in their existing rigs, in their own race.

I don't know, it just struck me as odd.

um, no. For a bunch of reasons.

I'll start with the easy one. You don't have to qualify anywhere to race in Ultra4. You just have to have a class legal car. Since those rules haven't been released yet, I don't know where you'd get the concept that a 4WD desert car can't compete with us.

I know for a fact that there is a JeepSpeed team racing in Ultra4 at V2R with hopes of qualifying and racing the JS at KOH.

Are you saying we should allow 2WD Trophy Trucks to race in Ultra4?

Easy Rick

Obviously not. But if they wanted too??????Same rig=Same rig.

No real point, as I said, it just struck me as odd the way it seems we are making demands as the underdog. And its nice of them to let us come race with them, thats all.

Rick.

Edit:What about 4 wheel drive trophy trucks?:flipoff2:

Jeff Knoll

what some people are building now might just be a 4 wheel drive TT.:D

Maybe I can clear it up, or likely make it even more muddy.

Casey sees the value in what we are doing with the 4 wheel drive industry. My talks with Casey have never been demands, but more working together to create a way to attract addition market to BITD. Remember Casey is a promoter, and he likes big entry numbers. I think its pretty cool that Casey sees that his organization needs to be flexible and change with the times, rather then continue down the same works the way we do it road.

As far as Desert racers not being able to race with us, thats simply not true. Any person can build an Ultra4 race in a qualifier, and continue on to KOH. The trouble is that we can not open the doors wide to every person who would like to race because track limitations, and the BLM require us to be a bit more exclusive.

We do hold a few invitations for high profile drivers so a simple phone call from Robby's People would easily get him a spot if he wanted in.:D

People asked for more racing, and thats what we are giving them. Big announcement at the RCQ, You'll hear it first on Pirate4x4.com.

That was my poke at Dave! I guess we'll just have to wait for the rules to see who all is excluded from 4400. Then they will have to find another way into KOH, if they wanted in.;)

Until there are rules, (same as Lands End), I think it is just going to require some judgment on what is a class spoiler is and what it isn't. I think everyone out there is struggling for direction. I think we just need to be laid back, let things develop, and depend on Hammerking develop some sound rules this year.

Rules should be done soon, They are being torn apart from an outside testing agency. We had to go outside the country for that service as to keep non subjective. When we get them back we will re-work them to remove the waterboarding references. After that we will send them off to a couple guys for final review. One of them in Rome, the other is the Dali Lama. King James now has a place in King of the Hammers.
