: Going back to Prison (for full width)
joefear7 09-03-2002, 10:35 PM I did a search on full width axles on my Jeep and the legality of it. But was wondering if any one in southern California has gotten in much trouble for the foot and a half of tire sticking out past anything else Jeep.
cobo9 09-03-2002, 11:23 PM I live in the bay area and am running full width. Well the front is cut down 5 or so inches but regardless, run the extended flares in the rear and front If your fenders are cut, make some. Those la cops can be quite ruthless especially to a wheeler.
Hope that helps;)
SHERPA 09-04-2002, 06:26 AM I'm lately thinking the same thing............ even at only* 84
total outside width, on a cj tub, that 12" sticking out
on EACH side.......... even with 6" extended flares (which
everybody is telling me are gay) is still 6" PAST those flares.
is this going to be Cop-bait? I wanna drive this biotch on
the street in summer time once in awhile....... oh yeah,
think I'll get in any trouble with rear steer on it too??

FULLSIZE 09-04-2002, 09:41 AM every time i saw a CHP in my old full width jeep, i was pulled over immediately. i couldn't pull over fast enough sometimes.

How much was the ticket and did the say it was correctable (yea thats expensive either way)? basically whats the total penalty.
LOPPY 09-04-2002, 11:28 AM I got popped in Napa one time. Even with my removable flairs on. did'nt help my rig had a yard of Lake County mud all over it. It was $35 fixit ticket. If you get it signed off, no fine. I did'nt. Lazy bastard I am.
I have though been passed by CHP on the freeway though. And my junk is stick'n way out there. I think it just depends on their mood that day. Run flairs and flaps and roll the dice.
Robert 09-04-2002, 11:39 AM The only place I have been hassled is in Davis.
CHP has never given me second look. Of course I also drive pretty coservatively, staying in the right lane, under the speed limit. The last thing I want is some CHP looking over my Jeep real hard.
Davis cops gave me a ticket one time. I swapped off the 15x10s and installed a friends set of 15x7s to get the ticket signed off.
It was still a $170 fine, even with the signed off ticket.

Cheepin 09-04-2002, 08:50 PM I don't know the law in Cali but as far as I know here in Co. it is legal to have exposed wheels on passenger vehicles.Trucks are not allowed. This was done so back in the street rod days they were legal.Jeeps,Blazers, Scouts and the like are all rated as pasenger vehicles. This is what I have been told.So don't quote me on this.Need to look it up for myself.Blazin
Keith 09-04-2002, 09:16 PM I got a mudgaurd ticket not too long ago. My 38x14.5's stick out but about an inch from the body. I asked about covering the fronts and the CHP told me......Just cover the rear with a mudgaurd. Now I run flaps, they pass me all the time. Never had another problem.
