I am Building a 1965 econoline pickup and am wondering what to run for engine, transmission and transfer case. I want to run duel cases and am having problems finding a motor that will fit in the dog house

How about a 240/300 Ford Inline 6, ZF 5 spd, Crawl Box and a NP205.

You cant go wrong with a 300. There an amazing low end motor, and for the tranny you could always go with a BorqWarner T18 granny tranny. There simple and plentiful and then you wouldnt need the crawl box because of the 6.32:1 Low gear.

I want to see pictures of this thing when you start building it I drove past one today thought about something similar lol. Id say the 300 6 with the borg warner too but Idk if it would fit in the doghouse. If not a simple 351w/302 would be cool.

If you could find some old Four Wheeler magazines you might find some conversions. It was done frequently with all three manufacturers vans (Chevy Van, Dodge A-100 and Econolines) since the early ones were all leaf spring. The earliest ones I remember used either CJ or Wagoneer axles and transfer cases. The Dodge vans were available with 318's and autos, they were real easy to swap. Most had divorced t-cases. Today with the better selection you could keep it all married and tucked up out of harms way.
