: Saginaw Power Steering Pumps in Rovers...

Anybody running a Sag PS pump in their Rover?

I've got the hoses and most of the bracketry figured out, but I'm stuck on the drive belt pulley to mate to a Serpentine belt.

The pump I have handy has too narrow a pulley and I'm curious to know which GM vehicle used a compatible pulley.

I've only been working on this for a little more than a year and it is finally going somewhere.

Patience! It has taken me almost a year to get to this point.

I also have a Saginaw gear box that looks like it might be going into the Rover sometime this fall or winter after the new building goes up and the house gets new carpet and the rental is rented and the kid is off probation and the wife gets her Defender and I get a digi camera and finally, after I learn how to post pictures!

In a somewhat more serious tone, the brackets aren't complete, just sketched and lay-out dyed. the hoses aren't back yet and I still don't have the pulley off, but was given the insight on the Chevy board. Should have the pulley off tonight and a new pulley ordered tomorrow. I have just this morning rethought the brackets and may head in a completely different direction. I was initially going to modify the existing Rover brackets, but now think I can fab from billet instead and it might even be stronger. The Sag pump I have only has two threaded holes that extend from front to back and at the front are obscured by the pulley, making it far easier to mount from the rear (where's Merv when you need him?). If I go this direction, I will need two plates, one to bolt to the engine and another to bolt to the pump, and then bolt them both together on the engine-this may allow for some more flexibility (engineering flex, not dynamic-again, where's Merv?).

Anybody have any comments on the remote reservoir? The Sag pump has it integral to the pump (just like some of the ZFs, but not the Rover models). I'm just gonna pull the reservoir to make room for my second battery.

BTW-as far as I can tell, my parents were married by the time I came along (now, one of my sisters, that's another story, but mother's dead and the old man ain't talking about such anymore).

I'm working on the newbie thing!

Peace,
Paul
