: what springs?
rockinranger62 09-04-2002, 08:04 AM Im trying to decide on what to run for springs on my Blamurai (see sig. at bottom). I know i'm going 4-link but i'm torn between coils or airbags (can't afford coilovers). anyone have any experience w/ airbags off road? I know the scorpions run them with amazing results but was just curious to durability, and what not. Opinions suggestions?
NC Zuk 09-04-2002, 08:24 AM There are a few airbags that own sammies on this board :D but as to your question of application of them to a Sammie, I have personally never seen one. Coils are becoming very popular (i'm installing mine soon) and there a lot of guys with custom creations lurking around here. There are a "few" coil kits available on the aftermarket as well. There is a thread on the board right now of sammie on coilovers (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77842) with toy axles. But to answer your question, I just haven't seen any around.
I Lean 09-04-2002, 08:37 AM From what I've seen, airbags will cost as much or more than coilovers--unless you have a source for cheap used 'bags, or something. You can get coilover shocks for under $200, plus your springs.
Since you've already decided to go with a linked suspension, your options are limitless--1/4 or 1/2 elliptic leaf springs, transverse leaf springs, coil springs, coilover shocks, air bags......
lojones 09-04-2002, 09:30 AM Since its actually a chevy with only a sammi body the chevy board might be a better source for suspension details when it comes to spring rates and such..

Your right you can get the shocks for around $200.00 but after you add up all the little bullshit and 2 springs per shock Bling Bling
an easy $500.00 per corner

I realize that, but since all of the weight due to the samurai body will still be destributed the same as if it was on a samurai frame i figured yall could help me out better on rates and what not than those chevy guys whose trucks weigh several thousand pounds more than the super light sammy:D :D The chevy frame is just longer and stronger. I plan on centering the body on the frame and mounting the motor very similarly to 350samurai's with the extended hood.
350samurai...where or what did your coils come from that would hold up the small block.
