hello, so my dad offered me his old ford 1994.5 4x4 3/4 ton 5 speed standard. its got 243 and a bit of cancer. that too sum it up in one scentence but he wants 1000 cash for it and it even has a snow plow harness. but theres a couple of concerns to raise before. it does need u joints ball joints some glow plugs etc. but the front ifs springs are compressed so much that the springs are arched backwards badly. my question is, how really bad is the ford twin ibeam setup for an offroad apllication if im just looking to buy a cheap truck for a g and slap a set of 33's on her. what are the weak points on these ifs setup and what will it take to get the springs arched to their factory height ? is this a good deal for a 1000 bucks its actually roadworthy with new front fenders and theyre what like 70 bucks a piece.

I'd say it is a pretty decent deal. The front springs are around flat stock... and with plow use, they will get worse. The TTB sucks in its leaf forms, but if you are only running 33s and nothing technical, it should be a good truck.

While they may be worn out front springs anyway. I do believe they are suppose to be "negative" arch. Atleast my F250 is that way along with many others i have seen.
Btw i run 33"s on stock wheels on my F250.

i dont think its would be too bad of a work truck/mudder because its pretty beefy stock but im still cruious about the ifs
