first off, i have searched and really didn't find what i was looking for.

i found a 76 suburban that is cheap and i am thinking about buying it for a project.

i want to make it into a crew cab with a 4-5 foot flatbed, but not by just putting a crew cab body on it. i want to get a regular cab and graft the rear wall onto the burb body. from the looks of it, it looks like the rear doors are shaped the same as the from doors. that way i get to keep the fold down seat, which would be nide since i would like to make a removable panel in the back of the cab do that longer items could be hauled.

has this been done?

cant remember the guys name but he is on here with what you seek.
The doors are the same though.Im using sub doors on my crew build. The rockers are different at the c pillar. You will notice its just the location of the little rubber snubber there.I do wonder about the extra time to get the roof lines from the sub to match the truck. the truck should be slopping down where the sub would be level i think.
Id say your on the right track with the suburban fram..Should be less cutting on the floor or frame than a truck..I can tell you dont start with a 1 ton service frame.

As for the vin unless your in and area where old ass trucks are stolen more than camrys and accords i dont think any cop is gonna second look.So if you dont do the flip down rear seat and get a crew just drill out the metal frame and reweld..Hell id just cut 12" of the laft side and reweld..The dash pad isnt see through so who would care.

The NYC auto squad just bagged me a few weeks ago driving on a curb and just laughed at my1/2 cab vin on the firewall and the 1 1/4 ton vin on my dash(dodges are rivited to the dash).

I think the suburban roof might be a little higher than a truck cab, so you might have to do a little extra fab work to get the roof to line up.

you have 5 more posts than me, but you have a red star, i guess that means you get the ability to be a douche. like i said, i did search, for hours actually, and didn't find anything that i personally thought was what i was looking for.

I was just going to link to your thread. Lots of good info in there. Killer build too.
