4Bangler 09-04-2002, 04:09 PM Here's a link (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/search.php?s=) on how to do it, it's really easy. Maybe your name should be MYSEARCHINGSKILLSSUCK
Honestly, use the search, this has been coverd a billion times, you just need the hubs, rotors, and caliper mounting plates from an eight lug Dana 44 or GM Corp 10 Bolt front axle, and depending on the build date of your axle, you may need the spindles too, of course you'll also need a ring and pinion that matches the 14 bolt rear.
MYNAMESUCKS 09-04-2002, 06:14 PM THANKS FOR THE HELP BUT WHY DOES EVERONE HAFT TO BE A DICK ABOUT AWNSERING QUETIONS ,NOT EVERONE KNOWS EVERTHIG LIKE YOU EVEADINTLY.
4Bangler 09-05-2002, 05:08 AM It's the nature of this board, nothing personal, and if you were to post questions like this in the Jeep forum, people would show up at your house and take your keyboard away. It's like asking kindergarden questions in a college class, you just end up looking like an ass.
This board contains sooooooo much information if you just look for it, it take a little while to get the hang of what keywords to use, but you'll get it. I don't know everything, but I know that the http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/images/top_search.gif holds the key to more knowledge than I can ever hope to harness, and if I can't find exactly what I'm looking for, I can get a good idea of which direction to go, and THEN, post an informed question and get good information in return.
MYNAMESUCKS 09-05-2002, 01:53 PM well thanks i did't really find what i was looking for there what info you gave me was the best my truck is a 77 do i haft to change the spindles

4Bangler 09-05-2002, 06:50 PM Pull one hub off and look, if the spindle has a raised section where the inner bearing rides, you've got big bearing spindles, eight lug hubs from a Dana 44 or GM 10 will slide right on, if the inner bearing area is only slightly bigger than the outer, they are small bearing spindles, which can be used with Ford hubs for us five lug Jeep guys, I'll swap ya for some large bearing spindles if that's the case, but probably not for a '77. Stay away from the external bolt eight lug hubs, the ones with the huge old style Spicer lockouts or bolted on drive flanges, you want the internally splined setup from about '76 and up, uses the same lockout or drive flange your 1/2 ton setup uses and is easier to maintain.
I can't remember the spindle diameter differences, I just know by eye, I know it's been covered here before.
MYNAMESUCKS 09-05-2002, 07:03 PM thats what i was wanting to know

4Bangler 09-06-2002, 06:49 AM Yup, that's what I was tryingto explain with my feeble descriptive skills, thanks Shaker.

4Bangler 09-06-2002, 10:01 AM Yeah, but pics always make hills look flatter, ledges look lower, off camber looks level, and they make my sausage look like a cocktail weenie, camera adds ten pounds to my gut but not where it counts!
zachv 09-18-2002, 09:14 PM Instead of starting a new post I wanted to biggyback on this one to ask a related question.
How different are a 10-bolt and a D44? I have an open carrier from a 10-bolt and am wondering if it will fit in a D44? Thanks for your help.
4Bangler 09-19-2002, 05:53 AM No way man, uh-uh, not going to happen. The only stuff interchangeable on 10-bolt fronts and Dana 44 fronts are from the knuckles out. The carriers are WAY different.

zachv 09-19-2002, 11:42 AM This is bad news for the guy that sold me the "Dana 44 open carrier with 4.10 gears" through eBay. He is gonna have to eat the deal and all that shipping:eek:
