i want to build a specialty chuck and would prefer to make it one piece without an adapter back plate. i know i have seen specs for a d1-4 spindle before but i can't seem to find them anywhere now. does anyone know where i can find this information?

i could measure one of mine but it would be much easier to build from specs.

I was going to suggest "Machinery's Handbook". The later editions are not as info filled as the older ones, so you might keep that in mind, and if you find a copy from the seventies, latch on to it.

i didn't even think about looking in there. i have the 18th edition (1968 i think) and the 27th edition (just a couple years old) machinery's handbook. i feel the older one is easier to find information in because it is more basic and has less specific information.
