XD9000I:

I dissassembled the planetary gear end of the winch cleaned and regreased all the parts- put it back together. All I did in the silonoids is blow them out with compressed air- everything looked really good.

When I put it back together I left the cable off and then tried to spool in/out a few time to see if everything sounded better. (I was getting some popping/grinding noises under load) It worked for about 10-15 sec then it just quit- not sure but i think I stopped spooling then when I hit the switch again it just wouldn't work? WTF?

I checked the battery cable/motor cables- ground cable: cleaned all connections, and replaced the ground cable b/c it looked a little crappy at the winch end.

STILL NO WORKY- it doesn't make any noise at all, I can kinda fell a "jump" in the wires on top of the motor if I hold my hand on them while hitting the switch.

I took the cover off of the silonoids and I only get "hot" where the hot wire from the battery connects directly- this is while flipping the switch in all directions?????? Did my remote switch go out, that would be a coincidence- are they prone to go out?

Help!

Jumper the solenoids to determine if it's your remote....

You should be able to hear the solenoids click when you hit the switch...

get a voltmeter and start tracing.

similar problem on my XD8K. Be very careful that everything is lined up correctly - I havne't been able to get mine to work after pulling the motor. Did notice that the tolerances seem tight on the motor side - any movement side to side will bind the shaft of the motor. Maybe true on the planetary side as well????

Ok so there are 4 silonoids that I can see, which ones do I "jump". I dont want to burn up something that isn't broke now.

I am probably going out to do this now,

I also think I may take the planetary end off and see if the thing will turn- I am wondering if there is too much friction from the grease- but I can turn it fairly easily by hand?
