Old Scout, I am thinking about getting the Trxus 285/85 R16 MT for my Disco 1. Did a search of the site and saw that this was what you had, but your post was before the summer.

How have they held up, would you still recommend them? I have a set of OME HD springs and OME LTR shocks ready to install, once they are on I am assuming all I will have to do is move the rear panel out via a bracket extension (that way I can avoid cutting the rear), will I need to adjust the bump stops?

Thanks for any help.

P.S. They will be used in British Columbia Canada, and I have heard great things about them in the snow.

According to my math a 285/85 is going to be about 35x10.5". So your going to need at least 2" more lift than the OME HD's will provide or you will have to do some serious hacking. Either way you'll have to cut your fenders to fit meats that big.

Your right I run a set of TruXs M/Ts but there 235/85. I saw my share of snow this winter. I'm very happy with them on and off road winter and summer. I was standing in the middle of the road when I took this picture of my cabin. As you can see we never get snow here :D

Crap dyslexic fingers again.

Size should read 235/85 R16. NOT 285, even being a newbie I know they wont fit without some hacking.

Now that I look like a complete ass, can I assume all I will have to do to fit the 235/85 R16 is move the rear panel out via a bracket extension (that way I can avoid cutting the rear). Or is there something I am missing?

I never cut mine. I just went wheeling and let the tire do it's own work. :D

It should probably work with the bracket extension since your going with the 235's. I'm not sure about the Truxus but I know the Interco tires usually have big lugs and that could come in to play. If the extension doesn't work, just trim a lil and you should be fine.

I run 235's without trimming. Only rubbed on the inside, under full stuff , with gear.

'coarse, I have a rangie, so there is a slight difference. but very slight.

Old scout

Do you use disconnects or remove completely the rear sway bar?

The rear bar is gone. I did have it on after the lift and tires. I figured I would get used to the new height , then remove it. One day there was a loud POP and then a scraping sound. The welds on the frame mount were cold and the mounts failed.

I've actually got a used set of the TrXuS 235/85/16's (5) that I am trying to sell for $200. 1 of the tires is brand new (spare). The others have about 60% of the tread left.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

Larry,

I would be, if only I wasn't on the other side of that line. (Canada) Shipping and customs charges etc would kill it.

Thanks

Customs?

"It's a care package from my cousin, officer. I had no idea he was sending me 5 special application specific tires"

On a disco you have to do something, the rear fenderwell is small. On a Rangie it does not rub too much if at all.

I just put 235 85 R16 MTRs on Alyssa's truck this week. Rubs on big bumps.
