Nice Your Coping my Buddy Matt's Old K5..
Not really tring to copy it ,just using it more as a guide . Taking points here and there form any and all nice Blazer trail rigs .
MNorby 05-07-2009, 06:11 PM glad I could be of some inspiration. That exactly what I did when I built that cage was loko at all the different designs and picked the best features from each. Very sweet looking scaler, kinda wish I woulda kept all my parts to build one.
how about a winch and front bumper ?

I love this bumper! What type of torch are you using?
Mr. Mann uses a small Mapp Gas self lighting one. You can get them at Wal-Mart or Tractor Supply Company .

Motorsports2 06-25-2009, 10:37 AM Unbelieveable, this is the most awesome RC crawler I've ever seen!!
How did you make the bends so consistant?
I took a trip Today to pick out some paint . I got Tamiya PS-14 COPPER , PS-12 SILVER & ps-5 BLACK for the inside . I wanted to do a rust looking color . I think it turnout great . I layed down 3 very light dust coats of copper(let dry about 5 min. each) Then layed down a light dusting of silver then copper again . 1 more dusting of Silver then a good coat of Copper back with 2 coats of Black . So nine coats total but more light 3 or 4 coats for a reg. paint job .
This is what it was looking like as I added coats .

small update
I have been working crazy hours . Nite then Days ,Weekends then Weekdays . I was off work today so I got a little done . I worked on the rear interfenders and the floor . I would like to ring Jeepcj578 neck for all the bars I had to work around . As for right now there is 7 peices that make up the floor . Some of those peices have 4 or 5 peices that make them up . None of them are bolted in yet (just laying on the frame) .There is still alot of work to do on the floor but it is coming together . Well on to a few pics .

Well I finished the rear floor . So it was time for paint . I went out and bought some Dupli-Color splatter paint part number DM100 . It is grey and white that was the only color Auto Zone had in stock . I scuff sanded all the parts with 220 grit paper . Then I sprayed a light coat on the parts . I left the Styrene showing thru in the low spots not tring to cover it all . I let that dry and sprayed on a light coat od Tamiya PS-5 black . This give and nice scale RINO-LINER look . here is a few pics
after sprayed with splatter paint

looking good. nice crawl spot as well. How did you make the CB antenna?
I used small music wire a small washer some craft wire & an airsoft ball . I brazed the music wire to the washer . Then bent it 90* added the craft wire to the bottom to look like a spring . I then drill the airsoft ball and used CA glue to put it on the wire .

It looks even better in person . The pics just don't do it . It looks like scratches that are months old on a 1.1 . :smokin:
I had some guys ask me how I wired up my rig at the comp . I use 1 Castel BEC to power the winch , receiver and servo sit at 6 volts. It work great , I'm sure there is other ways this is just how I did mine . I did a drawing to help people understand how it is wired . :sht:

I won a pair of Stage 3 Racing Chromoly lockers @ The 2009 Official "Scale4x4RC.US" Summer Scale Comp .
http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n68/Badd_Xample/Blazer/lockers001.jpg
specs from Stage 3
part # AL015
"These are made from hardened chromoly Steel and are virtually indestructible with a tensile strength of 175,000psi. Each locker weights in at 47 grams making it the heaviest AX10 locker on the market. The lockers come with a black oxide coating for corrosion resistance. Made in the USA."
The install was very easy . They installed the same way as stock lockers . Other than they are 1 peice not 2 . With the 1 piece design it takes the slop out of the 2 peice lockers . That is always a plus . I did put a drop of blue threadlocker to the 4 screws . The interaxle shafts where very thight in the locker. :nice:

KungFooMASTA 07-30-2009, 08:35 AM Epic Win. Your work is amazing. I dont have an RC crawler, but I have been looking into getting one. I only have nitro stadium trucks.
A few questions. How did you find a little Colt 45 can and could you get a 40oz, Is it legal in your state to drink and drive or does Stone Cold just do what he wants.
You might not want to say but how much would it cost to build something like that. (I was suprised just how expensive an electric could be when I started looking at crawlers).

I found the beer cans on E-bay (doll house seller have them)
Stone Cold just does what he wants .
As for the cost of a rig like this . hmmmmmmmmm
I have great sponcers that help me out . But I have sit down and price parts out . Plus what the custom work would cost . All that added up the rig wouldbe over $1400.00.

Well I had a few problems come up with the GD-600 & 10 tooth pinion gear at the scale comp . The Pinion gear was made from soft metal . The set screw pulled the thread out . This let the pinion gear move and eat the teeth off the GD-600 spur gear . I took the repair and fixed it up just enought to finish . To fix the problem I ended up getting a 12 tooth pinion and a set of lower axle gears . I also dropped to a 65 turn motor from a 40 turn . We will see if this move works out .

Brett @ Reign makes the Antennae long enough you can cut it off . I ended up taking about 3" or so off of it.

Update time
Well not a big update but a update never the less . I taped off a tint strip on the inside of the front window. I used Tamiya PS-5 Black in a rattle can .Then I added a new Scale Trail Runners banner from Crawler Graphics . The old one was looking a little rough . Bob got the same treatment , I didn't want to leave him out .

The front is the only one that has a bad angle . But I have not had to replace any . The rig has some 15 packs thru it now . You can ask anyone I don't baby it .
I was going thru some old pics of the blazer . This is some that I don't think ever got posted .

Cool rig, but also cool terrain. Were is that?
The pics I posted yesterday where took on our Family Farm in Middle Tennessee .
2Dogs 05-08-2010, 05:23 PM 2 more questions for you - is the cage steel or aluminum? And what did that thing weigh when you were done?
Thanks.

The cage is steel, as for weight it is just under 10lbs .

SICK build Very NICE RIG thanks
Well the Blazer is getting packed up and will be on its way to Texas Monday . I hope the new onwer enjoys it as much as I did .
95possom 10-13-2010, 12:38 AM That thing is nice. Whats more expensive the real one or this one. :D
I know I sunk more into my Jeeps than I ever had into my RC's . But these are not cheap either . It is very easy to sink a grand or more into a scaler . I have 4 scale so I don't want to think about it . lol
