alright i got a 1980 toyota 4x4 with a 20r and a 4 speed. i just bought a set or 35x13.5 toyo m/t's. this is my daily driver and i was wondering what i should gear my axles at. it is also a weekend warior. i already a have 63" chevy's for my lift and im throwing some NOS 87 toyota rear springs up front. got a lock rite for the rear and a aussi for the front. also got set of 36's irocs
Sounds like 529 gears....it won't be very fast on the highway though with only a 4 speed.

would it be worth it to swap in a 5 speed out of a newer truck? would this help with the highway cruisin

It would help with highway cruising, plus a five speed from a new truck is going to be stronger.

Dont bother, with a 20R and 35 or 36's you're not going to use fifth gear anyway unless you're going down hill. Put the 5.29's in and drive it.
