lets see some pics and have just a general discussion

thinking of getting a supermoto or a motard as they called

either a yamaha 250 or a suzuki 400

dont know wich one to get, just started riding dirtbikes, 125 2 stroke. and fell in love wit 2 wheels.

i think i would outgrow a 250 rather quick, thinkin the 400 would be better

yamaha 250,

I've heard good things about the Suzuki 400, been thinking about getting one myself.

I just picked up a drz400sm, didn't think the 250 would cut it. The drz is a blast, my roomate has the 600 interceptor and was trying to steel the drz after i let him ride it

The DRZ is an awesome bike! I have one with the carb, pipe and added an stm slipper clutch. Killer machine! I also just bought a KTM950sm. Total over kill but an awesome do anything machine. I have owned over 10 bikes including a zx10r and the supermotos are the most fun I have ever had on the street.

How far are you guys riding on road trips? I have a dual-sport with knobbies that I cruise around on. Would love to get a set of street tires one day :smokin:

If you have twisties they are fun. If not (here) they are just urban ticket getters, wheelie machies and fun ass commuters.

Do not forget to take a look at the Aprilia SXV 450 or SXV 550. I have a 450 race bike and the 550 makes a killer street machine. They are a little more money initially than the zook, but will smoke them in stock form and once you put the money into a DRZ to keep up with the SXV you will be more money in and still have a DRZ. I dont know your location, but I am also an Aprilia dealer and will be happy to answer any questions for you(feel free to pm). I cannot say enough good things about these bikes other then DO NOT BUY A 2007 NO MATTER WHAT THE PRICE!!!!!!!!

ok, i'm curious, what is wrong with the '07s?

The 2007's were designed to be race bikes only, but many people put them on the street and they just dont hold up to the abuse of daily driving. In CA they stamped the vin plate "Off-highway use only" so you would get a green sticker, but many people found loopholes to get license plates and they are paying the price by having to replace/rebuilt motors very, very often!! On the flip side the 2008/2009's make killer weekend warriors and lay down something like 68-70 HP!!!!!!

got a reckless on my drz within a week of getting it. so yeah you definently gotta relax when your in town with these things. i love my drz400sm though, probably going to change out the sprocket to get a little more top end. i did the airbox mod with gutted exhaust and a dynojet 155 main jet. lots of pep with this bike i like it. and i got the 08 for $4500, so not too pricey for a newer bike.

what did aprilia change on the motors? my buddy had an 07 and it was a knightmare of issues..he fixed them all then he sold it...i love the idea of the vtwin in the supermoto(i have a hypermotard), but the aprilia proved to be a headache of unreliablilty(so i bought the ducati)...id love to own one if it was a reliable like a tuono??

The motor changed dramatically in 2008, from the oil capacity to the oil flow etc. I dont have specifics, but I know I could grenade a 2007 in 100 miles and the 2008s and 2009s are doing killer. If you want to take one for a test ride shoot me a pm and we will set up a time to put a smile on your face!!

either a yamaha 250 or a suzuki 400

I have friends with each of those bikes, and a couple who have owned both. As far as power goes stock they are about equal. The DRZ is pretty weak for a 400 and the WRX is pretty strong for a 250. Neither are especially powerful when compared to most other street bikes. Both are good bikes and a ton of fun though.

dane

We are right off of HWY 99 at the Grantline exit. We carry Aprilia Motorcycles, Vespa and Piaggio Scooters, Can-Am Spyders, Can-Am Atv's, Ski-Doo Snowmobiles, Sea-Doo Watercraft, and Stingray Boats. Come down any time and I will hook you with a demo ride on a Dorsoduro and an SXV and we can go for a rip!!!(gotta have a dealership employee on another bike for test rides, my life sucks...)

My brother just picked this up the other day, was built and raced profesionally before it got in our garage. Its done to the nines in every way possible. 60+HP Custom machined parts, titanium bolts and carbon fibre all over that place. Needs a new set of tires without proper heat the slicks are almost impossible to ride around the cold neighborhood roads properly but still the most fun I think I've ever had.
