for those of you that don't venture into chit chat, Monster Garage has asked me if I'm available for a show from November 5th through the 9th. I'd basically walk there to get on the show but they have asked for a "tool wish list" that i would use. I could really use some good ideas. I already have the plasma cutter, sawsall, mig welder and hand tools(wrenches and sockets) under consideration but I need some other good ideas!

How about a small mill. That's on my personal "wish list" right now. Also a chopsaw, vertical/horizontal band saw and I agree on the bender.

1)vertical milling machine. older machines are better than the new chinese crap
2)iron-worker (piranha 9000) like this: http://www.hydraulic-ironworkers.com/
3)tube bender.
i really don't know how the rest of you get along without this stuff...although i still need a bender...

TIG WELDER, TUBING NOTCHER, SPEEDGLASS HELMET, FLAME CUTTER, LATHE...
DOUBT THEY WOULD HAVE A BUDJET FOR THAT, BUT IF THEY DO, GO TO TOWN! DO YOU GET TO KEEP THESE TOOLS OR DO THEY STAY AT THE SHOP? ARE THEY ASKING FOR WHAT TOOLS YOU WANT IN YOUR BOX IF YOU WIN?
THAT A GREAT SHOW, IT WOULD BE COOL TO MEET JESSIE AND GET TO WORK WITH HIM. AND YOU JUST know THAT ANYTHING ON MONSTER GARAGE IS GOING TO COME OUT ON SOME BLINGIN' DUBS! :smokin:

COOL!
Lots of cool stuff, but basically you want the tools you are familiar with! Ya, a milling machine is neat to have.... but I spent the first year MELTING aluminum, making a mess of things, and snapping bits off. If you are not used to hand cranking those wheels, you'll be really frusted with that five day deadline coming up and making a mess of things... There is something about snapping off a TAP on your 64th tap hole that can push you over the edge!!! Oh... after that project I bought a nice tapmatic for tapping!
So figure the things you are GOOD AT, and concentrate on those areas.
Meanwhile... It would be cool to watch Jesse with that planishing hammer. One of the items I still want to build, along with an english wheel (to smooth the bumps out).

A good computer contolled milling machine. Then you only need to learn Autocad.
