Ok heres the deal...i just picked up a chevy 5.3 for my 1982 blazer. Its going to be backed by a 4l60e and an np241 transfer case. I also have alot of other work to do the this blazer, such as a new dash, seats, steering column, and other odds and ends.

Right now im looking for a steering column. What steering columns can i buy that will interchange with mine? Can i buy one without the automatic shifter on it? I planned on just using a floor shift for the tranny.

Thanks!

this is all we really needed to know...

from 73 to 87, the basic steering column was close to the same. after 1980 sometime, the turn signal started to turn into a multifunction switch. first, just Cruise was introduced. then high beams and wipers. then delayed wipers.. another box in the wiring under the dash.

you want a column out of a 4 speed truck to get rid of the shifter on the column. the better option packages (Silverado) would be where you could get one with tilt, IF you want it. if you plan on pulling yourself into the truck with the steering wheel as a grabhold, dont get a tilt column.

they are reasonably easy to rebuild, if you get a beat up column. just be patient and take pictures as it comes apart.

you can either just knock the shifter arm off the colomn or find a manual trans truck and snag that one.

im more of a 5min, 0$, and run it kind of guy.

where are you located? I have a 75 non tilt manual steering column. I am not sure if I will use it or not, but just in case.....

well I think if I don't use it, it will be too expensive to ship that far. Better off looking locally
