You may laugh, but vanilla extract works amazing on gnats. We were camping last year and a buddy of mine broke some out in a little spray bottle. I thought it was a joke at first, but I tried it, and I cannot believe how well it worked. They were so bad that 2 couples had already left and my wife and I were about to. Sprayed some of it on me and the gnats wouldn't come within 5 feet of us. Just grab some out of your spice cabinet or whatever and try it, it will work.
