just swapped out my crossover and big tires for a 4wd box stock suspension and 33s on a k5 blazer. when i had the truck up on stands with no tre's attached and would rev the engine the steering wheel would slowly turn to the right. with everything together and driving around or even with the truck in the air it has stronger steering to the right then to the left... its really not THAT noticeable but you can tell. any ideas?

its a street truck if it was a offroad junker i wouldnt care

sounds like a box/valving issue. (I'm assuming you went back to a
"push-pull' type box.) you might try flushing system. If that fails,
try another box, I guess. (wait for other opinions, low confidence :D )

yeah i do have one more box. but it seemed to have a little bit of play in it.

also something else it did a few times. with the truck off and on stands. turn the wheel all the way to the left then all the way to the right it would spray a stream of power steering fluid out the vent hole on the cap... i dont think its done it the last few times i tried it though

From my reply to a thread yesterday on a hydro-assist set up doing what you describe:

I had the same issue when I did my hydro assist. It turned out to be the sealing ring on the piston in the steering box was brittle form age and as it broke the steering in one direction got harder and harder until it locked. Because of the hydraulics of the assist ram having the ram actually made the issue worse. When it finally locked up I unhooked the ram and it would steer pretty much normal. I tried everything I could think of, including a larger cylinder. Still no good. I finally disassembled the box because it was the only thing left. It seemed like the least likely cause until I saw the big chunk of the seal missing from the piston! Replaced the seal and it has been perfect since then. Moral of the story: when tapping a used box get a seal kit for it. Bad seals that may not be noticeable without hydro assist may make steering with hydro assist impossible. I know you said your box was new but maybe they screwed up the seal on the re-build. Either way what happened to me is worth keeping in mind. If I had read about the seals before I had my problems it would have saved me some time and frustration.

Because the area of the piston is not the same on both sides if is leaking past the seals it does not affect turning in the direction with the larger piston area noticeably. However turning the other way gets more difficult as the leak-by gets worse and can even prevent you from turning in one direction at all.

Oh and BTW my steering would slowly turn one way when off the ground too.
