14 bolt 6 lug

Hey, that looks good. How did you go about it? I have one sitting in the garage that I wanted to try that setup on, I just havn't had time to get that project stated yet. Wok seems to keep getting in the way of any of my blazer projects. Do you have any more photos of that setup with out the wheel and or the brake drum mounted? Any more info on that project would be great!

Looks good... how did you do it? Lets see some pics without the wheel. Did you have to open up the center hole in the wheel to get it to fit around the hub?

Looks to me like the hub-barrel and axle flange has been shaved down, and the hex bolts have been replaced with cap-bolts.

An important feature at play here is that Toyota and most aftermarket wheels have a larger center-bore, so factory GM wheels will not fit without mods.

Yes I turn the hub down to 4.170 which is Factory Toyota size. So you can't use factory chevy wheels but you can use any aftermarket wheel on them. I used allen bolts to hold the axle in. I would show you how I did the brakes but that is a ancient Chinese secret. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> I will think about.

Hey Donovan, that looks sweet. Is that a 15" wheel or do you have to use 16"? What would you charge to do that to mine? I'm getting ready to upgrade my truck. I was going to buy new wheels, but this looks like a better solution.

Grandpa Jeep thoughs are 15" rims on there and you can use any after market or toyota rim because the hub hole is bigger than a stock chevy. I figure a price and it would be $600 for the hole thing. Now that is to convert yours to 6 lug. All I would need is the hubs minus the drums and the axle shafts. When you get them back you would just have to bolt the drum on and install them. Also if you are installing it on a chevy truck or blazer look for a 3/4 ton rearend because they will bolt right up. The lockers are a lot cheaper for a 14 bolt FF. My buddy got his for Randy's and I think he said it was $308 for it. Just something to think about. BTW the rear axle is 67" wide so that makes it only 1/2" narrower than the front axle. I did use 1/2" studs in the rear and, I am trying to find the matching 1/2" for the front axle but I am not having any luck. The best that I could do is use a 1/2" stud and drill the hub and rotor for the bigger knurle. Let me know what you think

a D60 wouldn't have to the hub and axle turned down just the bolt pattern changed I believe. Sure wish the guy would share what he did, modify a D60 is what i want to do also.

If you are talking about the Dana 60 rear axle, it will not work by turning it down because the center hub is to large to start with. If you are talking about a Dana 60 Front yes you can make it into a 6 lug. I have not done it but I think I could do it if that is what you want.

I was in the process of doing this myself, but turning the center down to 4.170" seams like the wall would be too thin over the bolt threads. Plus I was using disc's off a 10 bolt front for brakes. And don't the heads of the cap screws stick out past the OD of the axle flange?
