I'm putting the subject axles and wheels (recentered by 406YJ) under my weekend warrior. The info I've found by searching the Web doesn't give a clear answer as to what BS the 16.5 HMMVV wheels should have. I'm trying to avoid brake caliper and steering clearance issues. I'm thinking along the lines of 4.5 - 5", but don't want to pull the trigger without asking the "experts".
Thanks in advance...
Jon

Hummers do have a maximum, as they hit something........... Hell I forget.
I think the most you can ran was in the 4-4 1/4 range.
You really need to mock them up and see what backspacing you need.
Most people that recenter end up with 3 - 3.5, but that is on normal axles.
With Metric axles, they came with a 16 inch wheel, so I would think the 16.5's would give a little more clearance.

Thanks for the response, Mark. I thought the same, that a 16.5 v 16 wheel would give more clearance, but apparently the Hummer wheels have a stepped inner surface. I'll prolly go with 4" as my rig is narrow and I'm trying to keep the track width down.
Anyone else?
Thanks,
Jon
