I am a mechanic inclined person also my brother is a 5 year now diesel mechanic. Also weather my axle is a 10 bolt or a dana 44. And the last thing is that do I need special tools to or feller gages to rebuild my Th350. Thanks for your help here are some pictures

Yeah you can wheel that 203 but once it gives you problems I would suggest swapping it out with a 205 before you put any money into it.

Im not sure about the feeler gauges or special tools for the th350 as I've never rebuilt one but maybe someone will chime in.

Thanks guy thought i was a 10 bolt. Why would i be better with the 205? How much would i cost and do i need to change anything else.

The 203 chain will stretch out eventually and it wont work right.

a 205 is all gear driven, so it's stronger. You can get the 205 and adapter for $150 give or take a little.

Wheel it till it breaks and then swap to a 205. That's what I'd do.

Well with this and your other thread. From what I think that you are doing you will be fine. The 205's are better than a 203, but it not that a 203 is completely junk. I ran one on my race truck for years without problems, plowed snow, shoved around cars...ect.

If you are just replacing the clutches and steels in your trans then you will not need any specialy tools, a little ingenuity will get you through. If you are doing a complete rebuilt, then yes you will need some specialty tools.

Well i am woundering weather i should take the 203 apart cause it off my truck. My brother said he put it in grear and it poped out i am just thinking that it was in far enough. Do you think it worth taking apart or should i put her back in and try it out with new gear oil.

Stock transfercase shifters for these bring the suck. They wear out over time and if you don't bunge strap them in gear they pop out. They seem to be worse in four low. You can make a twin stick or get one from ord that will solve the problem.

Each has good&bad points; 205 is stronger, 241 has lower low range.
205 is all iron case, 241 aluminum. so it really goes back to priorities
and determining how you're REALLY going to use the truck.

?? My '83 had a 208, my '89 & '90 both had 241s ( all K-5s )

They aren't in every truck k5 or sub from those years but they can be found throughout those years in some of those vehicles. Usually put more in the 3/4- 1 ton trucks but in 1980 all of them had np205s. fyi

What the point of doubling them up I see a lot of guys do this.

Give's more gear selection. I believe, and know that I am wrong, but i think it would give you around 4:1 low if you had both cases in low range. The crawler guys could give you a little more insight than I can.

^^yup pretty much, gives you a 1:1, 2:1, and 4:1 gear selection. Just helps with the crawl ratio.

So for now i thing i am going to build a 2 stick for the 203 or buy a kit. Then maybe do the double up when i get my new axles.

I "twin sticked" my 203 and it worked like a champ after that. Not really a twin stick, but it had to sticks to operate the linkages. I blew up one 203 in my truck and replaced it with another one. They are tough as hell IMO. However they weight a metric shit ton. I wish I had pictures of my shifter. Yall would have liked it.

after 40+ of shit in that goddamn linkage there was no way in hell it was ever going to work out. I adjusted the hell out of that thing and ever time I needed it, I ended up having to crawl up under the truck and disconnect the linkage and put it in 4wd from under the damn truck. But god, thank you for being such a god damn expert on MY problems.

I will try adjusting the T case if that dont work i will twin stick it. They can't be that hard to make.
