oxy/act regulator rebuilding

My act. regulator has started leaking. Its a victor sr250. Local guy wants about $50 to rebuild but I can get parts and rebuild both regs and my cutting attach for about the same price.
Has anyone rebuild there regulator? It looks pretty simple, a few orings and a diaphram.
Is there anything special about rebuilding these?

is there anything special about doing the drop/creep test? Can I just connect to the bottle to verify?
