: Which SYE and why?

I just bought a 92 YJ with a broken tail shaft housing (yes I new before I bought it)
I am planning on putting in a small susp. lift in the near future and possibly SOA further on down the road. I was thinking of getting a Tom Woods SYE but a search of this forum brought up many negative comments about Tom and his products. I am wondering what you are running for a SYE and shaft and how you like your set up. And where did you get it.
My wife is getting on my case about getting this Jeep on the road so she can beat it.

JB Conversions....because I have one and the vibes are less than stock...

They are all for the most part the same, at least the good ones are. JB COnversions, Advance Adapters, and Tera. Most people go AA for the strength and cost. High Angle Driveline makes some of the best driveshafts I've seen.

JB Converions cause it is the strongest.

I have had some bad dealings with Tom Woods and my driveshaft.

Ya might wanna buy elsewhere

I started a post about Tom Woods months ago and it started a pretty heated conversation. It seems that a couple people out of the surely thousands that went with Tom Woods had a problem with his shafts. After about a week and a half of the post getting replies, I found that on each occasion, Tom was more than willing to work with them to determine the problem, fix it, and replace his product that failed free of charge. Tom himself even emailed me and educated me on his product and customer service. I know several Jeepers in the area that run his shafts and swear by them. I have yet to save up the cash for a SYE and new shaft, but when I do, it will be from Tom Wood. Heres something to check out. http://www.pirate4x4.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=004502

Since yours is cracked, you can actually save money by getting the JB conversions heavy duty tailshaft. If you order from Tom Wood that is... The cut down shaft type like Currie's will run you $600 with a CV shaft, but you get $200 back when you return your mainshaft. Since yours is cracked you are better off to just get the JB conversions for 550 outright. Good luck.

I ran a Tom Woods SYE kit and shaft for a few years now. I haven't had a problem with the SYE, but the shaft I had didn't have a spring in the coupler. I took it to several other local shops who told me the same. I just had a spare TW shaft lengthened and they added a spring to the coupler. I am wondering if my current shaft has one in it as well. I think I will take my business to High Angle Driveline from now on.

IMO, the JB, AA and Bayou are very similar in quality and strength. I run the JB.

I think Bayou is the best price of these 3.

Jess, - $ 575 includes a driveshaft, right? If so great price. which 1310 Ujs are you putting in?

Bayou Geep is the way to go. Great quality, and the best customer service I have seen yet. Glenn at Bayou is a class act, and his prices are very good also.

I got my AA SYE and CV DS from Tom Woods. I have no complaints, he was great to work with, very competitive price and quick.

BTW - He has stopped making his modified tailshaft and is going to be just selling the other brands, so that he can focus on making driveshafts.

I had a Tom Woods kit in my 231 and I liked it. Only complaint is the washer on the end that holds the DS flange on kept collapsing and causing vibrations. If you go that route, double up on the washers or get a grade 8

Boston Mangler: I dont get you you were talkin crap a few months ago about tom woods, he personally comes on this board and sorts things out..you apologize and he gets you all straight and now your back talkin shit about him...i just dont get it, make up your mind!

i have a tom woods SYE and driveshaft..its good for what i use it for. tom said it should be fine as long as i dont put a crawler box or 4:1 kit in my truck. I have also had the JB kit and the JB is beefy. If i had the $$ id get a JB Sye and a Tom Woods Shaft.

yeah, I thought that, that's why I checked him out, and before he was Jeep Josh. I do most of the Jeep boards as HighHooder (the ONLY screen name I use), so my guess is that it was intentional. so I'm gonna treat him like Afghanistan

she's talking about the background, basically I'm pushing my privaliges of being able to post on www.pirate4x4.com (http://www.pirate4x4.com) by changing the background.

Fully understanding the possible ramifications of my actions, I pm'd Webdaddy begging for his understanding before I changed the background. If I get banned, well, then I guess that I'll get more work done at my job.

So, High Hooder....

Better to do and ask for forgiveness than to not, I always say. Dam newbies, WTF, that's why I drive the old Scout, not too many newbies on the board. I think the NB's all stay away from us crazy Scout guys, that is until they want to know which Detroit locker fits the IH Dana 44, or how to convert the IH 44's to 5x4.5 pattern so they don't have to give up their stock Heep wheels.
