: Switchable high idle control for winch on EFI 302 ?

I'm wondering if any of you might know how one would go about making a switch or something to idle up the engine for such things like a PTO drive or in my case for winching ( basiclly, speeding up the altinator ). My battery is in the back of my jeep and the winch is feed with 0-guage power wire from the battery to the winch, but I'd just like to have the altinator running at a higher output to ease the strain on the winch.

I have a 94' mustang GT motor in my 02' TJ, using 92' GT EFI.

I know some 7.3L powerstrokes have it, but that doesn't do much for me...

"lockable vernier throttle cable assembly"

twist n lock your throttle up, then slap the button on top to disengage

kinda like THIS (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130132963664&ih=003&sspagename=STORE%3APROMOBOX%3ANEWLIST&category=6755&viewitem=#LIST)

What about using the A/C trip to do it? When you turn on the A/C is bumps the idle to compensate - maybe go down that route?

If you had EFI wiring from a '95 or newer Mustang, you could do it electronically. Those idle controllers you see in ambulances and utility vehicles aren't just available for Diesels.

I know on the MSD ignitions, you can get a timing control and thats what I've always used to bump up my idle when needed.

do what i did on my DD

go to a junk yard - get the electric idle up solenoid off a mid 80 gm 4brl - hook 12 volts on a switch and it moves near 3/8" - it even has a angle mout that can be easly added to anything

i adjusted it to rev near 1800 - right where my alt puts out just over 230 amps at full load - for my winch

works tits - it also can be used as a poor mans CC - it makes my rig hold 53-58 on flat ground :D

A switchable input for fast idle EFI...

I have a new motor in my crawler and it is a 5.0 EFI with some work. It is getting a Quarter Horse tuner from Moates.

After downloading my program and definition files, I have been familiarizing myself with the program.

A/C adds only 24 RPM in a A9P (automatic tranny computer). Not much of a difference...

The neutral condition adds about 50 rpm. So about 625 in gear, 675 in neutral and 700 in neutral with A/C switch.

Of course, all that will now be changeable :grinpimp:

I want to add rpm through the switch/calibration to bump idle for onboard welder/york compressor.

If someone was interested, in the hopefully near future I could flash a new chip for the EFI and basically just change the RPM settings for them.

Chips themselve are very reasonable (under $100). Course they gotta be programmed!

I don't know all the specifics of the 94 stang motor, but is it throttle by wire or does it have manual linkage.

I built an idle control for my 95 powerstroke, which is throttle by wire by wiring in a relay that sends the signal through a potentiometer. Just flip the switch, and then crank it to the right for higher rpms or to the left to go back to idle.

I've also found that with it turned all the way down and the switch flipped it makes the throttle pedal "sluggish" which helps a ton when going over bumpy ground, cause normally the pedal is quite touchy.

94 stang is still a cabled throttle.

I did the tweecer on my EFI swap. it has a 5 posistion switch which 4 are user programable. I have idle speeds programmed in and I think I can get up to about 2200 rpms out of it at the highest.

I did the same when I had a carb.
Now, I just sit in the rig, why get out?

Put a little pulley on the alternator and call it good.
