Would the frame pirch be the same for a 351M/400 as the 302/351W? I want to buy these 460 swap mounts. They claim they will bolt a 460 into a 351M truck. I have a 302 now tho..

Well, the truck im refering to is an 89F150. Has a fulie 302 now. Out with that and the AOD and in with the 460 C6. Just need to know if those frame pirches are the same ones that ford would have used in say an 80F150/250 that would have a 351M/400?

If you need a pair I've got a pair of 460 frame perches from a 87 F350 I'd be willing to sell.

The "swap mounts" come with a new set of perches... Tha factory mounts are far superior anyhow, if you have them, use them.

They are different!!! Ford didnt keep anything the same so the Ford engines dont just drop in place like a GM or Dodge. You would be better off swapping them out unless the adapter kit comes with new frame mounts. They are not that bad to replace either if the engine is out. Obviously you are looking into going with a big block so you will be pulling the engine anyway. You will have to be sure you have a rear sump oil pan on the 460 too. IMO just buy the mounts that fordman75 has and be done, that would save you the $$$ spent on the adaptor kit. I believe the frame mounts will interchange on the frame from 1980-1996 so his should work. If you want to verify this just see if a dealer can cross reference the part #'s for 302 mounts for the 1980 and 1996 to see if they are the same. If they are then all other engine mounts should work.

You are going to need an oil filter relocation kit too.

460 crossmembers are already notched for it.

Thanks for the replies guys. Like stated, I have a set of 460 pirches. They just suck to swap out. Getting all those rivets out of the frame that hold the old ones in SUCK! These conversion mounts bolt to the 460 block and allow you to use non 460 pirches... Yes the frames were the same from 80-96 so all pirches will interchange if you wish to change them. Ive just been that route many times before and it always sucks ass... I bought the conversion mounts. Guess weel C if they work. Here is what it was that i bought..Along with swapping the pan to a rear sump, a guy also has to swap the oily pump and pickup tube out with a rear sump set up. Im thinking the swap from the AOD to the C6 will be a direct replacement for the most part.
