just bought a 1977 k5 blazer for $1850 and it has a 350/4speed manual/205 and d44 front and rear. My question is the clutch is hard to push in and it leaks oil ( typical 350 ) What tranny is it most likely and is the clutch bad? Cheap to fix?

The trans is an SM465 unless it's a Canadian truck, then it all gets funky, your rear axle is a GM 12 bolt, not a Dana 44, your front axle could be a Dana 44 or a GM 10 bolt, depending on how late in '77 it was built. The clutch in older trucks is a hell of a lot harder to operate than any new truck or car, does the clutch slip or smell like burnt peanut butter? Try shooting some lube on the pivot points on the clutch linkage and you'll see why it's hard to operate. If the body is rusted enough it may be bindingthe linkage, my old '77 Chevy 3/4 ton was so bad that the driver's door would open when I pushed in the clutch.

I had a buch of problems with a 74 I had about 7 years ago, ended up the fool that had it before me put the wrong clutch in it........ I think I went through 3 clutches, pressure plates, throw out bearings and 2 of the cones that the throw out bearing rides on in a matter of a year. I got pretty good at taking the trans and transfer case out by myself (friends only help the first couple of times it happens :( ).
