: lt230 t/case to fit a scout
eric knutsen 09-05-2002, 08:12 PM I have found an lt230 t/case with a 727-rear case.
Has any one put an lt230 in their scout; from the initial response over the L/R section they said it is plenty strong.
Any one knows how they compare to the Dana 20 strength.
The only problem could be the rear output is off set so the tail shaft will be angels down as well as the to the side.
Eric
Old Scout 09-05-2002, 08:45 PM It's 2x stronger than a D20 and beefer than a NP205. Go use the search in the rover forum. There is a few guys running a center diffs in there rovers. Strange Rover runs Scout D44s in his Series II rover.
That Mick 09-05-2002, 08:48 PM OS probably has the absolute answers, but...
The angle thing shouldn't be a huge problem, unless the offset is huge.
Strength, though, would be a problem. What rover has a 300 ft/lbs v-8??
Edit: Beat to the draw.

When Rover would build somthing they would use it in many styles of truck, large and small. The interchange between rover models is unreal. I'm pretty sure the T/C used a FC101 is just about the same as the one in my disco.
FC101

If it will cope with the 101 and the loads they carry the scout is hardly a challenge
That Mick 09-05-2002, 09:18 PM You know, I've always equated Rover with Yuppie.
I still do, but I WANT on of those :flipoff2:

Most small minded people do!:flipoff2:
RustoleumWhite 09-05-2002, 10:09 PM why not just slap an offset rear to match if the offset output is and issue?!?!
waggy quadra-puke.... or better yet, I got an offset D60 from an older J-truck sitt'n under the shop.......
or I also have an offset D44, with 5-on-5.5 Warn FF kit..... projects changed.... with discs.... :) need about $500 out of it though :(
been meaning to place it up in the for sale section...
Old Scout 09-05-2002, 10:27 PM I have a offset D60 out of a Ford Van that is going under the rover. It has 10" of offset and looks perfect for a bastard Disco.

Root Moose 09-06-2002, 06:45 AM Dunno if you care about this - but doesn't the LT230 reduce high range as well as low range? Something like 1.5:1 reduction in high?

ChiScouter 09-06-2002, 02:23 PM Hey OS I have a stock 35 spline semi float offset 60 from a Jtruck. 4.09 Not going to use it. think it is around 64 wide. Looking to find a new home for it.
Old Scout 09-06-2002, 02:34 PM Make up an ad and post it in the rover forum. You will sell it quickly. You have untill monday then it's back to the regular POR ads.
TheTLC guys would be looking for something like as well.

how much would you be looking for for it? lug pattern is 5x5.5 i assume?
PM me.
evilfij 09-07-2002, 08:59 PM To answer the point above:
If it came behind a 727 in a range rover the high range is 1.003 to 1
Almost all others in the US came behind the ZF and are 1.21ish to 1 high range.
Ron
road1will 09-07-2002, 09:11 PM yes ron, and LR did not use 230s in the 101s, they used LT95s for that which are even beefier but are integrated into the transmission. however the LT is very comparable to an atlas in size and weight (gears too) the only weakness tends to be the output shafts and yokes, but that has been deal with before.
evilfij 09-07-2002, 09:23 PM Yes short shaft LT95s in the 101. Good tranny for series swaps as it is short.
