: Damn Newbie
Gr8Pumpkin 09-05-2002, 08:17 PM Well lets see here, currently I have 2 rigs. One is a '94 Jeep Wrangler w/ a 4" lift, 33" tires and Eagle 589's; Line-X tub; sway bar disconeccts; custom bumpers, etc I don't care to explain much more because a) it's for sale, and b) you're all Toyota fans and who really cares about a jeep!!!
Vehicle #2: 1970 FJ-40 (has been on ebay a couple times recently). This is the Orange FJ that has an airbag suspension that is adjustable from 3" to 12". Under the hood is a 350 vette tuned motor. Kinda slow! I have a york compressor and the ARB. The rear is spooled, and front has an ARB. Custom bumpers with a warn winch and a roll cage. Tires are a custom BFG tire that i have not seen before, and those just might have to be replaced with some 37 SSR's. It has just about everything, but I'm not sure how it performs on the dirt yet, I've only had it a couple months, and currently its having several seals replaced because it leaks a bunch. I am putting new shocks and steering stabilizer next week, and hopefully after that I'll get to try her out. Any one want a nice Jeep????:roxy:

Eskimo 09-06-2002, 06:58 AM BFG that you haven't seen before...a MT/KM maybe? LOL
In all reality, it might be a Krawler.. I'd hang onto it!!!
I've never run SSR's, but haven't heard much good about 'em, either...
Macgyver 09-06-2002, 07:08 AM were you looking for this???

Yea I realized that I screwed up on my posting after the fact, but i was unable to delete it. As I said, "damn newbie"!! :emb3:

Yep thats now mine, unfortunately it no longer has the bead locks and those tires. Apparently they were stolen! Oh well, one day (hopefully in the next month) I'll put some 37's or so on it!
No SSR's??? I heard they were great, what do you recommend??
wngrog 09-06-2002, 07:52 AM Is that the Cruiser that was built in Arkansas by Forest Lovett?
If so, I remember it from a many of moons ago.
ADVICE: All the trails in Oklahoma are Swamper trails. I used to run MT/R's in OK and I went back to Swampers.
Clayton, Disney and Poteau are HARD on tires.
A set of 38.5 SX's would do you nicely.
Gr8Pumpkin 09-06-2002, 08:13 AM Wngrog
Yea, this was built by Forrest. Quite an interesting story. I bought it off the internet back in May from Vintage Offroad. The guy actually told me that Avalanche out of Denver built it. It wasn't until after I tried to sell it that some random guy emailed me to tell me the real story. This thing never fails to surprise me. You know anything about it?? I think it'll be a great rig once I get it fixed back up. It wasn't in as good of shape as i was led to believe. Nothing serious, just little stuff like wanting to hold oil! SX's huh? I'll have to check those out. One problem I'm having is that the tires were rubbing my air bags. I replaced them w/ a bit smaller bag and that helped, so I'm curious at how it'll do w/ bigger tires. Thanks for the advice. Disney is grwat, I've had some fun up there w/ my heep!

wngrog 09-06-2002, 08:20 AM Get some 2" spacers from www.performancewheel.com and get the tires out more.
$350 delivered.
Lot's of OK guys run Boggers, but I have found that TSL's or SX's do better on the OK trails. There is a 38 x 12.50 SX that might be what you need if the spacers don't work.
You could also get custom 2" BS wheels to offset if you have to buy wheels too.
Are you keeping the Cruiser?
Have you hooked up with the Green Country Cruisers? Not many hardcore Cruiser dudes in that club, but there are some in OK.

i don't know what it is about that post thing......... seems everyone does it when they first get on here...:D welcome:flipoff2:
Gr8Pumpkin 09-06-2002, 08:31 AM Well, I tried to sell the cruiser 2x, but everyone who was originally interested got nervous when they saw it go up for sale so soon after i bought it, so no takers. Don't blame 'em, I would have steered clear. So, I decided unless I got a good offer I'd Keep it. It leaks lots of oil, so its being gone through right now and many seals/gaskets are being replaced. Something I don't have the patience for. I'm also putting some new shocks on it. Kind of excited about actually getting it out hammering on it, but before i do it I want to make sure she is in good shape. It's on\bviously been ridden hard.
I wwas going to go out w/ the green people back in June, but had other plans. So hopefully I will this fall.
Boggers? I've heard that they grip so well you tend to snap axles on the real tough stuff. Now thats a tire!
Thanks everyone for the "warm" welcome :flipoff2:

Worst tire I ever had. Get some TSL's or SX's.

Naaah, that's said by people who never run 'em. They do have good side lugs, but the lateral stability SUCKS (i.e. you slide sideways alot), and I'm sure a TSL or SX grips better overall...
I'm running Boggers now, and my next tire is going to be a TSL or TSL/SX.
Gr8Pumpkin 09-06-2002, 10:14 AM What exactly is the difference between all of the above tires?? They all look pretty much the same. I understand the TSl is bias rather than Radial, but what about the rest?
dieselcruiserhead 09-06-2002, 10:36 AM That's pretty funny, I was the one who posted that pict (thanks Bennett) http://www.cisautoweb.com/dtlc/kenimages/P0000277.jpg
Anyways, those tires were recovered! Dave Barnes was the one who used to own it out here, he's probably the person who emailed you? He said it was an awesome truck, I'm not sure why he sold it. At one point he had the truck on a notoriously sketchy lot in Salt Lake (where supposedly things were stolen all the time). Someone jacked up the truck at night and lifted 4 of the tires off the truck but didn't have enough cynder blocks to get the 5th. Then about a year and a half later the same cop who did the report was chasing someone through a back yard and saw the tires! So he reported them and Dave got them back. Here's a pict (http://www.outbacklandcruisers.com/picts3/shop2.jpg) of them when he brought them up to Outback (http://www.outbacklandcruisers.com/) for consignment. One afternoon I was messing around and threw them on my HJ60. Made it look pretty mean....
If anyone's interested, I don't have the guy's email but I have his phone number at home. I think he wanted $1000 for the set of 5, all with Beadlockers and rims shown, only about 1" of backspacing(?), makes 'em stick out real wide, maybe 85% tread left in almost perfect shape minus some good knicks and scraps.
Gr8Pumpkin 09-06-2002, 11:22 AM dieselcruiserhead
That is funny as hell! I now own that FJ, and i bought it through Vintage who was selling it for Barnes. I'd be intersted in talking to the guy about buying those wheels. The backspacing would be great and help me avoid rubbing my airbags. What kind of tires are those?????:massey:
dieselcruiserhead 09-06-2002, 11:43 AM They're Swamper Boggers, 35" if I remember correctly. I'll email you his number tonight, tomorrow if I can't get back to the office today (no computer at home, thank god). $1000 is a pretty good deal considering the cost of tires and rims and there's 5 of 'em. Shipping will probably be in the $200 range, but I may be able to bring them through your neck of the woods in a month or two, I'm looking at an 80 with a blown motor in Arkansas and may be able to swing down.
Gr8Pumpkin 09-06-2002, 12:13 PM Diesel, that sounds pretty good, let me know what you find out. I'd like to run a bigger tire than 35, but I'd also relly like to have those bead locks!!
dieselcruiserhead 09-09-2002, 04:59 PM OK, I got a couple of emails backchannel about these too so I thought I'd post the number for those Boggers.
Turns out he has two sets of 5, 37" and 35" - the 37s are brand new, the 35s are 1/2-3/4 tread still in good shape. He wants $1000 for each set, BOTH are beadlocked with the same rims.
(801) 574 6960 - Ask for Dave Barnes...
Good luck! (Especially you Gr8pumpkin) --
Gr8Pumpkin 09-09-2002, 08:12 PM Thanks Diesel, that sounds lioke a pretty good deal. I emailed the cruiser place who had them, and they said he took em back. So, i'm glad to see you found something out for me!!!
Thanks again, I'll keep you posted
Tye ;)
Gr8Pumpkin 09-11-2002, 06:29 PM Hey diesel, thoought I'd say "thanks", I bought those wheels off of Greg yesterday. He is taking off the boggers and selling me just the wheels. Nice!!! NOw i can put some SX or SSR's on em!!
Thanks again!
wngrog 09-11-2002, 06:40 PM Hey Man,
