I just had to post this up.. 3 Years ago I bought an old Clausing lathe for my shop. After 3 years of use, the speed control started acting up, it has a rotary contol on the top of the lathe, and it would not maintain its setting, I took it apart and found a broken spring inside. Upon searching the internet for a replacement I found the "Clausing Service Center" In Goshen In. I called them and they had the parts I needed to put her back together. 160.00 for the whole deal. Excellent service, shipped it that day, and as I'm in Illinois I got it the next day. When I went to put it together, I was not sure how much preload the spring needed, so I called. The Tech guy new exactly what I was referring to and gave me my answer in 30 seconds, he even spoke ENGLISH!! WOW, I cannot believe the service they provide. The still maintain stock of parts for equipment that was discontinued in the 1940's!!! I would recommend a Clausing lathe to anyone, just because of these facts. It just happens to be a plus that the Lathe's quality seems to be as good as their service department.
