I just switch the tranny in my buggy a couple weekends ago to a C6 and I am already regreting it.I had a rebuilt but never run c6 in the garage for a few years and finally put it in,it seemed to be working ok then it started to over heat, come to find out it was not pumping fluid to the coolers.I pulled it and took it to a shop and had it gone through again. While it was there they put, lower gears in it and did some other performance up grades and changed the pump even though it seemed to be working since I had wheeled the thing for a few hours before I realized it was not cooling, they said they could not find any reason why it would not be working.I got the tranny back in today and fired it up and again no fluid out the side to the coolers,I did not actually run it around but I did shift it and it seemed to go through the gears ok .I would appreciate any help, since I am supposed to leave for Harlan on Wed.Thanks

Just a thought, perhaps you have a kink or blockage in one of the lines or cooler? I'd crack loose both the lines ( at the trans ). Then fire it up for a couple of seconds. If the pump is working right you should now have a big ass mess to clean up. :D I think it pumps out at 60 psi if I remember right.
It would at least confirm if the problem is inside the tranny itself.

x2

Did you remove the line from the front of the tranny and see if any came out the front fitting? That is the one from the pump.

Their is some pump mods similar to a C4 that you can do to the C6 and get better flow to the cooler.

This is a prime example of why you do it yourself. Then you will know for sure!

Yeah,I am not that stupid as to not check the lines first.I even pulled them from the side of the tranny and could not make a mess,we blew in through the fittings and there are no blockages internally.I was going to rebuild it myself so I knew how they work and how it was done but I ran out of time. This would be my first auto,I've did a few 4speeds.Thanks for the help,I do appreciate it.

Not trying to thrash on yea, but one never knows on these forums :flipoff2:

Was there any fluid in the lines? It is possible that some trash got into the case passage behind the rear fitting and not letting fluid back in??

All kinds of possibilities...

My C6 was the same way, fresh rebuild then it sat for a year or so on the dudes garage floor. Then I bought it.
Put it in and left for Moab. Burned it up wheeling a few trails at 225-250degrees.
I fully rebuilt it myself. When I took the pump out I found the check ball was "welded" into the pump. I removed the check ball completely so it flows all the time now. It warms up kinds slow but it flows, thats the important thing.
The ball valve was a W H O R E to get out!

Don't get me wrong I do appreciate the help,no fluid ever made it to the lines.I will call the tranny shop tomorrow and have him look at the check ball, which I would hope he would know to do anyway. Thanks again for the help.

well stupid question - was it in gear when you attempted to make a mess ? -

i have had a few shop installed "shift kits" in there reman trannys ( they just mod the valve body and call it a shift kit ) that did not pump in park - and one that didnt in N -

what pan are you running ? is there to much or not enough clearance to the screen / filter -

any noise ? im assuming it moved right ?

I went through all the gears and run the RPMs up a little and could not get anything.I did get the tranny back yesterday and seems to be working ok now.The tranny guy spent all of monday inspecting it and could not find out why it was not working so he installed a new valve body and pump and it did the trick. Thanks for any help.
