I picked a matching pair of axles for my YJ project a 60R and a 44F with 8 lug pattern out of an old J series the 44F does not have locking hubs its a full floater. Do I need to throw manual hubs in it?? Or what can i do in order to run that axle??

All 4x4 fronts are FF. To answer the question you can just tape it off and drive it as long as the 2 nuts and lock washer are still in it.

What does it have now?Is it external or internal hub?If internal does it have a silver cap on it?If it has the cap it is fulltime and can be converted to partime by pulling the cap then a snap ring and the drive gears and big spring. Then you can put a set of manual hubs in.I keep a pair of these drive gears and cap for spares. If you want I have pulled the gears and put the cap back on and ran like that. But it takes more time to get 4wheel drive. If it is external I would get a set of hubs.Taping it off would just be temporary.Blazin

Yep!! Just pull out the innerds like described above and put on hubs. Easy. Keep the innerds for spares in case you break a hub on the trail.
