What axle is stronger?.. I am more used to Dodge infor and I'm redoing my Excusion and I was debating the virtues of both axles. The Dana 80 is a Superduty 8x170 bolt pattern axle..
Thanks,
Deo

The only Dana 80's I've seen in Fords were under duallies. Are you really going to wheel a Excursion? If not the 10.5 should be strong enough, I'd worry more about the Dana 50 up front:D

The 10.5 is rated for about 20,000 so I think it will be fine.

Contrair Mofrare... Got a single D80 from a 1975 F250 supercab. Rare find I do agree! 35 spline 8 on 6.5. I'd have to see money on the table before I post pics though.:flipoff2: Where's a bet from Mr.N? Yes, it's original...:smokin:

F250, my bad GubNi. 2wd. 360/C6. 3.73 open gears. Although I don't think this to be totally unbelievable for Ford did some crazy things those years, I got a door sticker GVWR to help with any dis-beliefs. Believe me, I searched til my fingers bled for a D80 single wheel and YET to find another Ford version. Especially the 73-79 series.

If you don't remeber the difference between an F-150 and an F-250 how could you ever id an axle? Fuckin troll, askin for money to post pics. Screw the axle pics, anyone can post a pic of a Dana 80 under a '75 SC, post up pics of the door tag. PICSORGTFO :flipoff:

BTFO! I really didn't think a sole would chime in until I could get home and take a pic. And it'll be tomorrow until I can post and DAMN, I hate to buy a star just for this... And now thinking, I probably won't and try to go around you bunch of JA's just to post my findings. I actually figured someone would pop up with more info before now but I guess it is indeed either a rarity or a hoax? I'm a pro at ole Fords for I have over 15 of them and have pondered over this myself for quite some time and have no other conclusion but it must be stock?
Being a newb for posting, I should have taken into consideration how delicate the F differences were taken on here. :shaking: My mind was on the words "supercab". And watching the f-ck over my shoulder cause I'm at work". My apologies for such LARGE mistake so early in my postings...

First of all 4XFord, I would not accept any your sorry ass money anyways. I was only waiting to see if MrN would chime in for he'd be the one to know more than me for I envy his dedicated many hours of researching of this shit. I've still been in full search mode trying to get answers myself but there AIN'T any...

There's always some reason not to, but never 'I failed at Ford interweb school'. Of course you won't post up, it doesn't exist. If you can prove me wrong I'll put something appropriate in my sig for 6 months, like 'Owned by Gittinwidit, see thread here:'.

I'll bet you have.

Why don't you wait until you get home to compose your reply? You really should stay off the internet at work if it's not allowed. :flipoff2:

Funny, I didn't offer any.

I've still been in full search mode trying to get answers myself but there AIN'T any...

Strange, my spicer info doesn't say anything about a D80 under a '73 Ford. But I'm sure you own a rare one off that Spicer owned for prototyping, it is the only explanation that makes sense.

GVRW don't match. And there's no Ford identifications on it. And there's not even the helper springs installed so it must be a dodge. But whoeven swapped it long ago did a good job! It's a tad wider too so it must be from a van?

I eat my crow while it's still warm...
